After four seasons in League One, we return to what looks like the toughest Championship (on paper) for a number of years. There is undoubtedly a feel-good factor around the club and the town following a scintillating run of form towards the end of last season. The stars seem to align in that we have owners willing to spend money and show ambition, a progressive young manager who has us playing an exciting style of attacking football, and a squad of players who look well-suited to compete in the second tier. Can we replicate the type of momentum that Sunderland showed last season in their return to the Championship and stake a credible claim for promotion? Will this be a season where we need a year to acclimatise? Or will we underperform a general pre-season consensus that this team is potentially destined for great things? Hats off to nuggets for accurately predicting that by and large Harry Clarke would be an extra man for the opponents this season.
