Not specifically related to today's racing but it seems Ireland's big trainers are coming to some sort of arrangement? Elliott and de Bromhead leaving the Clonmel Oil Chase alone, making it a penalty kick for Mullins. Conversely no Mullins runner in the rearranged Champion Chase at Down Royal - just 4 from Elliott and 2 from de Bromhead. Or am I being cynical?

In my current form definitely one to avoid. However, have to press on regardless!

The (14:50) at Musselburgh, a Class-5 Novices' Handicap Chase over an extended 2m4f on good-to-soft (good-in-places) ground, has a few of the 13-runners who have little chance of success. The French-bred Kapgarde gelding and top weight, Kap Chidley, has a squeak and, hopefully, will put in a decent performance. Alan Johns on board for the Tim Vaughan stable. (Long trip for the yard)

11/2 (Wm.Hill/Coral) best price at time of writing. E/W (especially with any drift) probably the best way to go.

    (Prices from Oddschecker)

Kempton 6.00 By all accounts, the 11/10 fav should blow away the opposition, based on his unlucky 2nd over C&D recently. However, there are two in this who have run respectably in much stronger races. Bigbertiebassett was only btn 4½ in a Class 2 lto and previously was well btn by top class Rosallion having been prominent until 1f out. Phone Tag was btn 5l in a Class 2 over 7F but recently won a Class 5 over today's distance. Those 2 are trading at 5/1 and 11/1 respectively and look better value ew

Not touching the 6.30 though. The fav is a Frankel, out of a Shamardal mare. Lovely pedigree but has been gelded. After a not very promising run in a Class 2 at Goodwood over 8f he was dropped to 7f and then to 6f in Class 4 events. Maybe found the right distance, maybe he'll be better without his tackle. Shame really

In the hope that the Tim Vaughan team haven't made the long journey from South Wales to Musselbrough for nothing, will hope Colonial Empire can take the finalé (16:00) for them.

11/2 seems about the best price at the moment.

Ran a good race to finish third at 15/2 SP, so e/w backers would have got their money back. However, bit of an expensive day for the Tim Vaughan team?

Another good one to avoid.. I seem to be finding it easier finding favs to avoid than finding winners
