Should be fun on Saturday with the Lord Mayor's Show, police stretched to breaking point and Just Stop Oil itching for a really big stunt on the day. Throw in a couple of hundred thousand marchers and things should get lively...
I see that horrible skank Mone has now admitted to her association with medpro and the PPE scandal. She deserves prison time along with her husband and any corrupt MPs who were in on it. Of course it won't happen cos it will run right to the top, the corrupt bastards
'Far-right groups and football hooligans' pose the biggest threat to public order this weekend, according to the police.
That's because the Police believe we all have to accept that the Far Left and the Islamists have a right to deface national monuments, chant antisemitic songs, praise sadistic terrorist groups, call for a holy war and punch and kick 78 year old poppy sellers
Wow, the Daily Mail in human form. 'There is no justification in law' for banning the peace march according to the police. If anyone on the march, which will go nowhere near the Cenotaph, does any of the things you describe, they will rightly be arrested. Meanwhile, Tommy Ten-Names and his far right rabble are answering Braverman's call to arms and will feel justified in attacking anyone they deem to be on a 'hate march'.
The Daily Mail thing is such a tired trope, Strolls. You'll be on about Gammons next. It's clearly not helpful for a bunch of football hooligans to go up to the march. But here's the problem. People are getting tired at the aggression, racism and general bad behaviour along a thick edge of the Palestine marches. Attacks on war memorials at this time are designed to provoke. And, for example, local people in Rochdale are frightened to comment on camera on the defacing of theirs in case the "Be Kind" brigade or religious bigots exact revenge.
Your ludicrous post was reminiscent of a Daily Mail column, Goldie. The vast majority of the people on the armistice march will be peaceful and law-abiding. Anyone attacking a war memorial should and will be arrested. Calling it a 'hate march' is deliberately provocative and rabble-rousing.
I haven't called it a hate march and I've said previously that I think the march should go ahead and the police have behaved in a balanced way. But there is deliberate provocation coming from a fairly large section of previous Palestine marches, in the way I described in what you said was a ludicrous post. I stated facts. All that happened. So for the police to start pointing the finger just at those provoked is not a good idea. Let's hope the Armistice commemorations and the Palestine march both go off peacefully, and anyone of either side deliberately trying to cause trouble is, as you say, arrested. And that the police don't pick easy targets and ignore other transgressors just because they're frightened of cultural repercussions
It was Braverman that called it a hate march. The incidents you describe may have happened, I really don't know, but where your post was ludicrous - and worthy of a Daily Mail columnist - was that it suggested that the police believe we all have to accept that the Far Left and the Islamists have a right to commit such acts. Plainly ridiculous. Sunak has put additional pressure on the Met chief today, saying that he will hold him to account for any incidents surrounding the march. He should really hold his Home Secretary to account and sack her.
No, there's truth there. The police are underresourced and anyone but the politically blind can see there is a tolerance being shown to vile acts of Left wing and Islamic offenders (like trying to beat up a man holding an Israeli flag) that would not be shown to people holding up union jack flags at the Cenotaph. Let's face it, Strolls, you have extreme political views, so anyone who points out the aggression, racism and provocation among an extreme section of the Palestine march must be a Daily Mail reader, even if, like me, they recognise that the majority of the marchers aren't troublemakers, don't want the march stopped and feel that, so far, the police have got it about right.
Go back to your original post and read it again. That's because the Police believe we all have to accept that the Far Left and the Islamists have a right to deface national monuments, chant antisemitic songs, praise sadistic terrorist groups, call for a holy war and punch and kick 78 year old poppy sellers Now tell me it wasn't ludicrous. I really don't have extreme political views, Goldie. I sincerely believe that you do though, and the government that you support is the furthest to the right in living memory.
I tell you what makes you extreme, Strolls. Because all the incidents that I listed in that post have happened and have been well publicised. The defacing of the memorial in Rochdale is currently one of the top stories in the news. Yet you say: "The incidents you describe may have happened, I really don't know..." So unless you've become a hermit and live in a cave with your smart phone, you're deliberately shutting your eyes to what has been taking place, and the fact that the police have shown immense tolerance to it thus far. But there comes a time when agent provocateurs must be faced. And that time may be Saturday, depending on how all the marchers behave - and the police must not be timid in facing it.
I'm not denying that these incidents have taken place, I just wasn't aware of all of them (I'll have to check out the Rochdale monument and poppy seller stories). I am aware though that such things can sometimes be exaggerated or given undue prominence - they may be top of the news agenda for some media outlets, but lower down for others. Assuming they all did take place as you describe, they are deplorable and should be fully dealt with by the police and courts. For you to say that the police believe that the perpetrators 'have a right' to do these things remains a ludicrous statement, though. I have no doubt that there will be some extremists involved in the march on Saturday, but they will be in a tiny minority. If they break the law, I fully expect that they will be arrested, either at the time or later, based on video evidence.
My original statement was said partly with sarcasm, after you posted that police believe the Far Right and football fans are the main problem, even though to date all the bad behaviour has come from a section of Palestine marchers. I clearly wasn't serious when I said marchers had the right to beat up that aged poppy seller - but you've taken it literally.
Ah, I see. Were you also being sarcastic when you accused me of having extreme political views because I wasn't aware of a couple of minor, if deplorable, isolated public order offences?
Police have to protect a man with an Israeli flag from being beated up by the Palestine mob, an old poppy seller is kicked and punched by Palestine supporters, there is constant anti-semitic chanting and banners, and marchers openly support a proscribed death cult that has baked alive a young child in a kitchen oven and beheaded others ...and you describe these as minor? That is extremism right there
You're losing it again, Goldie. Is that more sarcasm? Of course the poppy seller thing is a minor incident. I've read the story now, and it seems he found himself in the midst of a crowd of demonstrators and felt himself getting pushed. "What was happening to me was I was getting shoved back. I was getting shoved backwards, in danger of falling, and one of them stood on my foot and split my toe. So I thought I had got to get the money out of here. So I went down, and as I bent down someone punched me in the back, then I got another punch in my side." Very unpleasant and deplorable, but you equate this with supporting the beheading of babies? I think you need to broaden your news provider horizons.
Why do you say "pushed" when it's clear he was punched more than once? An 87 year old man. And you ignore the man who had to be saved from the mob, and the open support for a death cult that decapitates children and bakes them alive. You're constantly making excuses for the thuggery, racism and aggression in a contingent of the Palestine marchers. You need to go and find your moral compass, Strolls. Don't worry, we'll wait...
