Good Morning. It's Wednesday 8th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Is it time to cut ties with Bamford With the January transfer market fast approaching, Daniel Farke has some important decisions to make, as he attempts to steer West Yorkshire's finest to the promised land; but knows he must make sacrifices if he is to bring new blood in! At 30, Patrick Bamford should have at least another good couple of years in him, but his performances tell a different story. Putting all his injuries to one side, the one time England star seems off the pace, even in the Championship. He should be at least asking questions of an out of form Joel Piroe, but seems content to see out his remaining three years, going through the motions, and why wouldn't he! Since coming back from injury (at Southampton) six weeks ago, the one time England star has amassed 99 minutes of game time from seven substitute appearances, accruing an average 'Whoscored' rating of just 6.18, placing him 21st in the Leeds line up. Even after relegation, both 'Spotrac' and 'Capology' suggest Bamford is earning £70,000 a week, or just over £300,000 a month. The Whites inadequacies at left-back are well documented, and stretch back years. After missing out on Romain Perraud (who proved as useful as a chocolate teapot for Southampton), the ER faithful thought Leeds had hit the jackpot, when Victor Orta raided the Nou Camp. Firpo now has a chance to prove his doubters wrong, and work his ways into Daniel Farke's plans. His attacking play is good, and if he can improve on his defensive responsibilities, perhaps he's nail down the role on a permanent basis. please log in to view this image Leeds eyeing up move for Iraqi International Reports from the Capital suggest Leeds are lining up a bid for Iraqi International Ali Al-Hamadi. The 21yo striker currently applies his trade with AFC Wimbledon, but came come through the academy of Tranmere Rovers. He joined the Dons during the January transfer window for a minimal fee (from Wycombe Wanderers) where his career has suddenly taken off. In 33 appearances, he has netted 14 times already, and is fast becoming a player in demand. Wimbledon have already turned away offers from both Barnsley and Peterborough, and have slapped a £1.2m price tag on the youngster, which would be a record transfer for the South West London outfit. please log in to view this image
Morning all. Of course Bamford needs moving out nut nobody likely to take him. So unless we cover half his wages or a stupid Saudi appears, were stuck with him soaking up two players wages. As there is clearly a colossal gap in standard between pl and championship, it's quite possible Firpo will be a hit. I really don't get the criticism he currently gets when he's never even kicked a ball in the Championship. No player could be judged on last years performances
My views on Paddy are well known and I suspect nobody will buy him, but he may get a loan move to Burnley or he may end up in the desert if he can prove his fitness and maybe he should take Cooper and Ayling too. Just to light the blue touch paper I have a feeling Firpo could be a revelation
It would probably cost us £12-£15M to replace Bamford so it all depends if we have that in the January budget which I suspect we do not.
And if we get promoted we might need to sign a £40M stiker so the budget is all important. Paddy can still do the back up role and whilst his wages might be high his transfer fee was paid off ages ago. Plus any striker signing in january would probably be on the bench to begin with at least.
Leave Paddy alone,he will play a big part in us getting promoted,a confidence player for sure, but he will get it back.
Why replace him, he does nothing. Throw in one of the young lads now and again, they'd do. In fact, Betty from the canteen would do
Paddy has picked £3.7m per year for 2.5 years so far and added fook all to the team or the club. Sorry to say but he’s done but picked up almost £10m since he last contributed and by the end of the season that number changes to over £11m. So yes the fee we paid for him has been paid off ages ago we are paying top wages for a bottom player
Betty's Tea Rooms are an institution around these parts so no belittling Betty if you please young man
It's not done' - Brenden Aaronson's Leeds United future claim amid Union Berlin loan struggles Oh yes it is.
Evening all Save our money, no striker yet unless we can get someone who's cheap due to their contract running out, also assuming we don't sell any of the current attackers
