Yep. As I said last night it is a tactical issue. The stat about the distance our shots come from makes sense as on Saturday we resorted to just taking pot shots without really having any plan at all. If a striker makes a run and our wide players just ignore them I don't see how it's the strikers fault. Mowbray needs to change tactically if we are going to see a forward score goals.
My sentiments too No point having Burstow here coz he ain’t ready Hemir needs a rocket/slap/first team men’s footie Mayenda may prove more ready/capable - I hope so
As said earlier, we seem to get excited over young players, and when they don't spark immediately, the fans seem to lose faith.
A few do Bob, that's true ... ... most people , I know, realise not everyone can just hit the ground running. Clarke is the perfect example.
Interesting this distance thing. I’ve seen a few complaints on here that we try to walk the ball into the goal. Also at home the crowd are always shouting SHOOT at players well outside the box.
Fair enough. But I’m not too excited. Mayenda has some experience & looks gutsy. Certainly more than Hemir who I’d describe as ‘sloppy’ - he isn’t anywhere near ready and needs a loan to adjust to men’s footie. The team need time to adjust to Rusyn and/or Mayenda on the pitch, as much as them showing they can hit the onion bag. Hume had the perfect chance to slot Rusyn in on Saturday but the ball was pulled back for Clarke from further out.
https://www.a-love-supreme.com/single-post/mowbray-on-o-nien-and-ballard-suspension BY ADAM GRANOFSKY MOWBRAY ON O'NIEN AND BALLARD SUSPENSION please log in to view this image Luke O'Nien and Dan Ballard both received their fifth yellow cards of the season against Swansea City, which means they'll be forced to sit out the next game at home to Birmingham City. Here's what the boss had to say: 'It's alright, that's part of the game. My frustration there is that again, it's about managing the game. I've talked about the top end of the pitch, managing the game. You've got to find space, double movements for the defenders so that you can work some space and then when the ball arrives, you score. At the back I don't think there was a threat, so why are we making last-ditch tackles that end up with us getting bookings? We've got to manage the game better. It's a bit frustrating that both of them have got themselves into situations where they've got to take bookings. We'll have to face Birmingham City without our two central defenders and so it's going to be an opportunity for someone to come and show that they can do the job.'
Nothing personal Bob, I ask everyone the same question, but why shouldn't we get excited ... ... surely that's the whole point of being a football supporter. If I wanted calm I'd stay home and do jigsaw puzzles
I saw him play, as a youngster, in the Cannes football tournament and, as an adult, in the French Cup ... ... I'm as surprised as anyone we've signed him, there must be some coaching/developement needed but the talent is there. A five year contract says a lot imo.
Agreed. Our recruitment is all about signing young talent on longer term contracts and developing them, which I think so far has been largely successful. However,in the case of the strikers, none of them are Championship ready. Rusyn should be,as he's not a kid, but, for whatever reason, has so far failed to flourish, the others all need more work. We're all a little bit frustrated that it isn't happening now, especially after a match like Swansea, and we need Rusyn to come good soon.
