You have to get your mentality right about it. They are difficult place to go, but ones that we have to focus on getting the result like we did against Oldham" NPower League 1 Table: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/table/default.stm Reviewing the last few weekend games , who should be one of Nigel Adkins 'impact players' , most importantly who should be playing from the start??? Full Time Result??
Hi KingslandSFC, I'd start with: Davis Butterfield, Fonte, Jaidi, Harding Chaplow, Hammond, Lallana, Guly, Chamberlain Lambert. That gives us a winger on the bench, in Forte or N'Guessan, Martin or Seaborne to cover centre back, dickson and Richardson to cover fullbacks, Barnard, Gobern and Bart to make the 7. I'm quietly confident for tomorrow, and think we'll have a comfortable 2 nil with no fireworks.
Yeah i agree with the team there. Quite confident for tomorrow now as we should be fully energised after not playing saturday and we should have a fully fit Lallana now. A good backing aswell, over 500 on a tuesday night considering the distance is great support. COYR
I cant see any problems with the team. Just about right although not so confident re lay off. Players do not remain as sharp as I'd like. As long as they do not treat Hartlepool with dis contempt they should at least come away with a draw. To the 500 hundred who are going up.....great stuff.....wish I was with you in body. Will definitely be with you in spirit.... CoyR.
If Spider is fit I would be tempted to play him in place of Guly and play 4-3-3 which when defending can become 4-5-1. He has a good range of passing and is a better player than Hammond with the proviso that we may need Hammond for the scrap to earn the right to play.
Schneiderlin is a tricky fit for me, because he seems to play really well when the rest of the team is also playing well, but doesn't seem quite as at home when scrapping for a point on a boggy field. He has a good range of passing, but never seems to be a game changer. Hammond hasn't got the same finesse, but he breaks up play tremendously and has a hell of a shot on him. Neither player seems like an alternative to Guly though, because I think we would end up playing too compact and deep in the middle and only Chaplow giving us attacking presence from centre mid.
Hi Optimisticsaint Great to see back on not606! Good team line up - BUT I would have Barny & Lambert With the weekend break - Thinking alot more postivie and think we will be up for this ...I am going 3-0 SAINTS!
Kingsland, I really rate Barny however I think that Guly has more strings to his bow and so starts for me. If I was more confident in our midfield, I'd play Lambert and barnard upfront, but I'd have Guly lurking in the hole (which sounds really filthy )
To be fair I think Guly kind of helps Chaplow out and covers some of his forays forward. So I agree for Guly over Barny. Barny has his part to play coming on later to keep the oppositions back four working as hard as they can. His type of play is different to Guly's. I too have no comment in regards Guly lurking in the hole either..... I also think he gives us a bit more in height for the crosses as well as his deeper roll. (oh it gets worse....
Looks a good starting line up but I would go for Barnie. I think he is such a good reader of the ball & game when playing with lambo. Bring Guly on as a sub for who ever needs a rest. Looking forward to some footie. Hope the weather stays nice for the trip up.
I see this match as a difficult one for you guys, Hartlepool is not the most glamourous of places to go on a Wintery Tuesday night and expect to get all 3 points! Good luck I think you may need it!
I too predict a tight scrappy game......I don't usually go for predicting Saints results.......but if push comes to shove I will go for a 0-1 win to Saints......There you made me stick me neck out.............
It sounded like a very poor performance tonight. We didn't stop giving the ball away and created hardly anything. We have to expect games like this though and in the end it was a decent point as we lost no ground on anyone except Brighton
We were lucky not to lose ground...........It is looking more and more like we will have to do to do it the hard way......By the sound of it if we do not start putting it together we may not even get that chance either. Big disappointment for me, we are not even matching last seasons results at the moment.
Sounds like the pitch and wind were levelling factors - Saints seemed to create more chances from the radio but Hartlepool seemed unlucky not to have had a penalty. Agree that because other teams results were as bad or worse (in terms of how they SHOULD be doing) (B'mouth drew at home to Sh W, Posh drew at home to Colchester, Hudds drew at D&R), this comes down as a reasonable result and not a disaster - particularly considering that out of the current top 10 only MK Dons have got 3 points at Hartlepool. I was very frustrated though with the result - a missed opportunity.
Its all down to the contribution of all the current members , very pleased your on board!! Spread the word of not606 tho! Good effort boys and girls of course!
As I said before the one good thing that came out of this was that we did not lose ground. Good result by "Wednesday" though. As someone else said
