Tino too good to leave out. Hall can come on at LB and Tripps back to RB if we need to shore the RHS up and move Tino up the pitch.
Think we need to at least get a draw if we are going to qualify for the knockout, I would play Hall as left back and Trippier right. Keep Livramento as a sub that could come on in either midfield or defence if required. Big believer in playing players in their natural positions and Trippier is a shadow of himself on the left.
Rest Tripps and play Hall and Tino at FBs. I think Longstaff needs a one match rest as well tbh or we're going to kill him.
Cos Tripps can swap sides, and Tino has been awesome. Hall has been good, but Tino is the one ready to step into the first team right now.
So basically this is about fitting Livramento into the side, rather than the best team available - even if it means not playing a LB in the LB position?
Livramento is part of the best team available. Although I assume Hall will get more chances now, and they'll be FB rotation. But yes, I want Livramento in the side more.
Hall has had one solid performance against Man Utd (Tino was MoM in that match). Tino has played thrice and had 2 x MoMs and one fantastic half against CryArse. He's levels above, defensively. This is too crucial a game to rely on Hall IMO. Trippier has to play. The defence is organised by him and with the back 4 makeshift, that's imperative. Hall LB Tino RB vs Bournemouth maybe?
We're going to have to give the youngsters some time tbh. It's interesting that our "Starting XI" isn't missing to many - its the rotational options that are killing us. Pope, Trippier, Schar, BOTMAN, BURN, Joelinton, Bruno, Willock, Almiron ISAK, Gordon - is probably our strongest line up. Dubz, Tino, Lascelles, Dummy, TARGET, Longstaff, TONALI, ANDERSON, MURPHY, Wilson, BARNES - second string. Karius, MANQUILLO, KRAFTH*, Cb, Hall, Cm, Miley, Cm, RITCHIE*, Lw, CF - 3rd choice per position. Only 3 "Starters" missing but EIGHT rotation options not available, so 11 missing for Dortmund is a nightmare but we've got a decent squad available for this game. Tino, Lascelles and Wilson are decent options to fill the starting spaces. Overall we are missing cover for LW and a CM position with the injuries/suspensions we have. Hall, Tino, even Miley will get a good look in over the next few weeks before the international break. *Krafth coming back is a bit of a blessing but not registered for the CL, neither is Ritchie or Gillespie*. Willock needs easing back in but should be ready to start soon, can't rush him back and I'd be tempted to keep him on the bench before he's needed to start vs Bournemouth with Bruno suspended next weekend, Longstaff and Joelinton can't keep playing every min currently so Hall and Miley in the CM positions are going to be important even coming off the bench. Pope Tino, Lascelles, Schar, Trips Longstaff, Bruno, Joelinton Almiron, Wilson, Gordon Subs - Dubz, A.Murphy, Dummy, Hall, Miley, Willock, Diallo, Ndwieni, Parkinson?
No we aren't all saying it. I said choose between Trippier and Livramento at right back and play Hall at left back. He may be young and lacking experience but its his natural position. Give him the opportunity to step up. Burn looks like he might be out for a while so its a good opportunity for him to get both Premier league and Champions League games under his belt.
