First off, congratulations to Cray. They gradually stifled us, while looking good on the break, and given their level, thoroughly deserved the draw and the bonus money for a replay. Hard to say where to begin with us. So many poor performances, and to be fair, it barely improved when the lijes of Leabrn, May and Louie Watson came on. Genuinely shows some of our second string are simply useless. It'll be interesting to see where the replay is held, and who gets to start it.
I imagine Appleton will start with a lot more first teamers. Tight ground, unfamiliar surroundings, this one needs a stronger starting eleven. Having said this, people will always bring up surprising results BUT there is no excuse for a Division 3 reserve side not putting to sleep a team of Cray's standing.
Well done the Millers. We were reduced to committing a series of petty fouls out of frustration because they were coping so easily with our ponderous build up. Couldn't have complained if they'd won.
What has happened to Charlie Kirk? There was general delight that we had managed to sign him, now he just looks like he doesn't belong on a football field. Best to pay up his contract, let him go back oop north, see if he can get his mojo back.
Yes, that one-on-one he had with their keeper. Never came close to getting it right. Was he ever really good enough?
No. He was decent at L2 level but average at L1 level. He seems to have just gone backwards under various Charlton managers. Am I getting confused or did he lose his dad unexpectedly just before he came to us ? Who knows what effect that has had on him, especially coming at the same time as a move away from his home area. We should let him go, but have we had any offers and would he accept terms if we did ?
When he was at Blackpool there were mutterings about the possibility, I'd not be surprised if that he is not prepared to take a cut on his salary to move on. In a way I could not blame him if this is true.
He's got technical ability but not much else. His mental state may be cause for concern, I don't know.
If he was putting himself in the shop window yesterday I don’t think he done himself any good unless it was in the out of date aisle- I really hoped he’d come good but if he can’t lift his game against a lower league side in the cup I don’t think there’s much hope for him
Micky Apples has been critical of his players, or "some of them" as he said, in his post-match interview. He's found out about some of them "Not in a good way". He hasn't named and shamed them, but I still think that he's made a mistake. Criticise the team, that's OK, and give them stick individually in private, but if he's not doing that they will be wondering who he means. We'll see in the coming weeks whether or not he's made a mistake.
