Probably be Liam Manning from Oxford. Before people complain remember 15 months ago Rob Edwards was at FGR
Well apparently new man to be unveiled tomorrow -I just hope that we get the right man going forward. SL and JL biggest decision since taking over at Bristol City. We need to see true ambition and that means a manager with pedigree who can take the club on from Nigel’s time. Please get this right or we could see our club going backwards and all the good work done wasted.
It depends what you mean by pedigree. NP had previous pedigree, but when you boil it all down, on the field, he didn’t take us forward. I think the new guy needs to be given time and not judged or compared to previous managers.
He has to get us into the top 6 this season at least, we all heard JL, that’s what he’ll be judged against.
There is no argument a lot of us said in the Summer if Nige got us up into the top 10 we would be happy, as of yesterday result he did, cracking young squad, great academy, reducing debt, wagee bill under control, no major contratual issues, money in the bank to invest in January, perfect landing for a good man to take over. I wonder what the Lansdowns have got lined up for us?
JL said they didn’t think we were where we ought to be with the squad we have, that’s why they got rid of Nige. We’re 10th , 4 points off the top 6. They are saying we have a good enough squad now to be higher than we are, any manager taking over presumably they’d consider better than Nige or why bring them here, so it stands to reason he’d need to be top 6 this season, without needing to spend any money because the present squad is good enough, oh and he has to play the way they want him to play. I’m looking forward to a new manager, but a lot will be expected of him from a fan base that was happy with the previous manager, any less than playoffs will be seen as failure.
The Lansdiwns lack of football knowledge is showing again, and the incoming manager had better win his first 3 games to prove our potential at this level, and justify the sacking of Nige
Come on Wiz, that performance, at home, against the team bottom of the table side, who played 60 mins with 10 men, and we scraped a 1-0 win. If you think that makes us top 10 come May, you're deluded mate. Yes he reduced the wage bill, which as a result forced him to use the academy players - I doubt that was part of his strategy when he signed, so he can only have so much credit for things forced upon him, that seems to be the rule on here.... I think sacking him this early was harsh, no doubt about that; however, if his target was top 6, as it has now finally been revealed, then I guess they have looked at our performances and made the call that, under NP, they don't see that happening. It's the same target set previous managers, and they also paid the price for not delivering, albeit much later in the season than NP, hence why I think it was harsh. I know that you and others will now cry about finances, but the point of NP was, he could do it on a shoestring as he was a proven, experienced manager, unlike previous ones. The board have probably looked at other clubs with similar, or smaller budgets and less experienced managers make the play-offs, and promotion, and are wondering why we are still floundering in the bottom half of the table each season. I think they are entitled as the owners to challenge that.
Never made a commitment he didn't keep, said as it was, no lies, I never mentioned May, I just think the bloke did an honest job with what was available, we've had the inexperienced youth, we've had the cheap option, we've had the 5 pillars, we've had the very experienced operator, we've had the massive spend, we've experienced the massive debt, we've achieved a good recovery, what will the Lansdowns offer us next, I can't wait.
I wish they would just hurry up and tell us who the next coach is so we can move on from this ****fest they created, getting tired of all this nonsense right now. Trying to get us excited over a new coach when nobody wanted the previous manager out, bunch of clowns
whoever the next man is we cannot judge him on face value .. he has to have a pedigree that fits the reasoning given for expelling Nige ............ the continuity of the academy through to good work for the team and the shop window/saleroom. The jist of the comments why got rid of is including "fulltime" training, and being active on the TG at Failand. sorry never really appreciated CF, and half expected we lost on Saturday ... phsycologically we did against 10 men! QPR with new manager likely to be getting a grip on the players at his disposal will be a harder nut to crack than Sheff wed or Rotherham... teams we must beat in positions 17th to 24th at least at home and draw away. [ these teams vary throughout the season so it applies to them when in those positions! ]
Normally, I think Merson & Morrison talk absolute b0110ks, but the points about any appointment of Lampard are bang on the money for me, especially what Merson says about Birmingham, and the Rooney effect. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/b...son-slam-potential-frank-lampard-appointment/
Exclusive: Bristol City closing in on Oxford United's Liam Manning as new head coach Former West Ham Under-23 coach Liam Manning could take over in time for Saturday's game against QPR They reap what they so -A up grade on Pearson my ass, Bristol City owners better have got this right or the reaction from the fans will be toxic if this goes pear shaped.
Well well, what a cock up, and JL said we’d be excited about the appointment, doesn’t know the fan base at all if he really believed that.
Oxford fans are not happy -Bristol City fans are not happy. what a furking joke of a club. https://yellowsforum.co.uk/threads/liam-manning.9227/page-71
Not a wind up RR but didn't you say you had been told and now understood why NP and his team were removed?
I've added one or two. we've had the inexperienced youth we've had the cheap option we've had the 5 pillars we've had the very experienced operator, we've had the massive spend, we've experienced the massive debt we've had a owner buying a 40 year old Italian underpant model who also played in goal without tellin the Manager we've had a head coach now at Fleetwood who said he was one the top five young coaches in Europe.
