Bit unfair on young Crompton, who looks a real prospect to me, unless we could get him a beneficial loan deal.

We have one of the biggest fanbases in the country. We deserve it and we deserve our ownership to show similar ambition.

Our squad is amazing but you dont win things without at least one recognised striker in your squad

We've signed 4 strikers this season yet still the same complaints as last season, we will not sign a proven striker end of story, Ross Stewart wasn't a proven striker when we signed him Rusyn will be a success this season given the chance, we were one game away from a play off final and the reason we fell at that hurdle was the lack of CBs not the lack of a CF.
I can't believe people are questioning the ambition of the club after the years we've had, we don't deserve to be in the PL because we have a large fan base, we have to earn it and we will, if KLD had said he wants us promoted at the first attempt to the championship, then build the squad over 3 years then back to the PL we would have been over the moon with his ambition

And Diaz scores with a shoulder/ header and he's one of the small uns in that team.
Football eh...and some of our fans are raging we couldn't score against ten men then along comes a team of Liverpool's pedigree and they struggle against a determined team like Luton, that's football no team has the right to win any game, you have to earn it and us and the bindippers fell short this weekend.

Weve signed 4 upcoming strikers mate get it right.
We had Simms last year who had played a full season for Blackpool and Hearts and Stewart was also playing mens football in Scotland.
Not sure what your point is really, why shouldn't we ask a few questions on a forum about every single striker we have is inexperienced and young??

    Good post mate ...

... I wonder how many Championship clubs sign proven strikers.

I really can't think of anyone we could sign.

If the 'lack of ambition' posters can put me straight I'd be delighted.

Rusyn is 25 and has played over 100 games in "men's football" including Europa League

Ross Stewart was 24 when we signed him and had played 103 games

Not a huge difference between Rusyn and Stewart

Although I will concede that Stewart was initially signed as backup to Wyke

I suppose the test of the model is what happens in January. We are currently sitting on £10m we got from Southampton (assuming we didn't go big on Pembele and Aouchice) so does that give us some room to sign an experienced striker? OR is it going to be invested in 4 or 5 promising youngsters?

I am fully in support of the model (self sustainability) but I hope there is room enough to cater for the here and now as well as the future

I'm all for signing an experienced striker but A) Who could that be and B) Why would they sell to Sunderland ...

... it's a serious question if anyone cares to answer BTW.

I agree. So many people saying "there must be a....." yet no-one comes up with a name.

Nathan Broadhead would have done like - still no idea what happened there

He didn't want to come to live in Sunderland I expect ...

... especially when Ross Stewart wanted to play every game.

Lived most of his life in Scotland, not "this" country at all

No-one can really say how much the language barrier matters once you are across that white line

Massive shame - got plenty of game time when he was here on loan. Bit odd

Hes born and bred in this country. I have no idea what advantage that would have but from a lad the same age thats only played in the Ukrainian league and cant speak English it must make a big difference
