Barca can't afford the players they already have, you can rule them out of actually paying money for anyone till at least the summer.
Real are saving up for Mbappe's wages as well as trying to nab Davies and Kimmich from Bayern
City not seen any links to them

Arsenal and Spurs are the rumored rivals to us.

am I the only one who doesn't actually care as the lad is a little midget no 6.

if he isn't desperate to come and is playing the field then we already have our answer as to his suitability.

Everything I've seen from the player or his camp etc is that he wants us. He wanted to win the Copa thing first and knew that Fluminense wouldn't sell for a reasonable price as it was mid competition for them.

The other clubs mentioned are paper rumors of interest at said clubs end

Kante is only small, but a hell of a defensive midfielder at his peak.

Big.men like Szoboszlai, gravenberch, nunez and gakpo mean we deserve one more.man mountain in the side to clean up form set piece.

Maschereno was a diddyman but was still the best No6 we've had this century, Fab notwithstanding, and - unlike Fab - could still fill in at CB somehow and be commanding in the air.

    as a six.

    Alonso by a country mile

fabinho obviously given he held the slot on his own for 3 years to give us great seasons

I'd contend hamann in 2000 to 2005 was far more important to us that you are giving credit.

without even thinking about it that is 3.

Alonso was never a ****ing 6! Hamman, okay-ish, but I'd still say Masch was better. And Fab? I said Fab notwithstanding for a reason, but even so I'd say Masch was the better defender.

You can’t compare mascherano and alonso. They played totally diff roles. Mascherano was a defensive midfielder winning tackles. Alonso was a pass master in thiago mode.

Mascherano was world class in that role.

    no they literally didn't.

alonso made.mascherano look good and he ran further than any other lfc player consistently covering more players as they went forward.

he played 6 for real, played 6 for bayern and won it all.

mascherano ended up as a.midget cb for Barca as he simply was too limited to take a midfield slot.

you do not have to be a kicker and lumper to be a 6!

MITO still hung up on this "No.6" thing <laugh>

A traditional number six (80s & 90s at least) was a centre back FFS <laugh>

Mascherano is the best DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER we've had in the PL era imo, and I loved Hamann and Fabinho

Alonso is probably the best deep laying playmaker, only Molby comes into the argument but don't think he played in the PL.

Gerrard is obviously the best AM (no.8 in MITO's book)

We were fortunate to have all three at once #bestmidfieldintgeworld

I think we may all be comparing apples and pears here. Or at least we're all talking apples and MiTO is talking pears. Bollock-shaped pears at that. :emoticon-0143-smirk
