what did I say that led you to think I didnt know the rule? you wanted Allsop to kick the ball to Seri, who would pass it to Jones, who would pass it to Doyle or Morton whereas I thought Allsop should throw the ball straight to Doyle or Morton this would be consistent with my philosophy of making as few passes as necessary you seemed to think that a West Brom player could make a back pass to Allsop!
I said at the point when Jed Wallace had blocked off the avenue to Jones his only option was to pass to Seri. Your genius solution was for him to pick it up and throw it. Thus breaking the rules. I can quote the whole conversation if you wish but I feel you’d confuse it for MO’s conversation with you I did also ask the question what happens if threw more directly to Coyle and he subsequently lost the ball leading to a goal would it have mattered because the original pass from allsop had meaning but you refused to answer that one
havent you looked at the highlights? there is no way that Wallace was blocking the throw to Jones anyway there was no point in passing to Jones and no advantage in dropping the ball Allsop should have kept the ball in his hands and thrown it to Coyle or Morton or many other options - except Seri or Jones! Seri and Jones were the two worst options
I’ve already said it to you but **** it here goes one more attempt in bullet points in the hope it breaks it down well enough for you - yes he could’ve played it out of his hands quicker - no he can’t have picked it back up to throw it to Jones or Coyle or Bob in row Z (which you did suggest despite ignoring) - at the point where he’s invited the pressure as per the system we play his only pass was seri or probably playing it longer please answer me this though. In your hypothetical scenario where Allsop plays the ball to coyle or Jones quicker and either of those make a mistake leading to a goal. What happens then? Does it not count in your world because Allsop played it with purpose? Or because he threw it out. this is the point I’m trying to get to you Peter. I couldn’t give two ****s how they play. I do happen to prefer how city are currently playing as it lines up with what I believe in but subsequently we’ve seen Seri make that pass successfully countless times. He ****ed up once and you’ve got on your high horse pointing at the doom scrolls you’ve had stored saying “the end is nigh” like you predicted it all along. fact is the reward far outweighs the risk as shown by countless good chances we’ve made and games where we’ve dominated possession from the back
"no he can’t have picked it back up to throw it to Jones or Coyle or Bob in row Z (which you did suggest despite ignoring)" when he collected the ball from the West Brom cross he shouldnt have dropped the ball he should have kept it in his hands and released it to a City player - not Jones who was standing 5 yards to his right though "In your hypothetical scenario where Allsop plays the ball to coyle or Jones quicker and either of those make a mistake leading to a goal. What happens then? Does it not count in your world because Allsop played it with purpose? Or because he threw it out." Coyle was a long way away from goal and there were City defenders between him and our goal so there was less chance of conceding It would have been silly to pass to Jones because he was about 5 yards to his right and there was no advantage If City concede a goal then I would use common sense to decide what we did wrong passing to Seri was risky there was no advantage in passing to Jones who was 5 yards to his right passing to Coyle would be safer because he is further from our goal but he could more safely receive a throw from Allsop just because somebody does the best option doesnt mean that we will never concede it just means we are less likely to concede and it may help to set up an attack from which we would score
right got it so because of it being the less risky pass but still conceding in your eyes you’d be less upset about it. Glad we’ve wrapped that up
that is if nobody makes a mistake you could do the best option but a player may fail to control the ball and the opponents pass through most of the team and score it's not simply a question of how the goalkeeper distributes the ball football is more complex than that I still maintain that isnt a reason to take unnecessary risks at the back
Thank you for finally agreeing with me. That’s what it all boils down to. Seri was the correct but risky pass given the circumstances but sadly he ****ed up.
how can I agree with you? I have been saying that the pass to Seri was a poor choice because it was risky passing to Coyle or Morton was safer because if there were errors further up the field we would have defenders between our opponents with the ball and the goal
It wouldn't take much to work out what it's about if you put your brain Into to gear. It's not particularly complex. I guess you either know or you don't.
For ****s sake, are you a robot? People play football. Sometimes people **** up. It's not always an existential crisis. We lost at a place we haven't won for nearly a quarter of a century. We had a go with what we had on the day. Get over it. **** happens.
The starting eleven on paper looked unbalanced, and after Liam's post match presser there were reason for that with injuries. That being the case, I thought the first 60 minutes we handled the game quite well. Clearly, not having proper wingers buggered up Liam's game plan. First half bearing in mind we gave them a goal start, I thought we handled going behind quite well, we didn't panic worked our way back into the game and scored a nice goal with a very good cross from Twine, who had a good first half IMO, and an excellent finish from Coyle. First 15 minutes of the 2nd half much the same seemed in control and I thought as they tired spaces would start opening up for us, only to shoot ourselves in the foot and thought switching off conceded 2 slopping goals. What I think is noticeable is the 2 goals we conceded against Southampton and then the last 2 goals yesterday have all come from the LB position. Clearly, this is a position which needs to be addressed. On performances, I thought Greaves, Jones, Macca, Coyle, Morton & Twine had okay games, Seri was off his best game, Traore so so, Tufan look rusty and Delap was not his dominant best. Considering the team was unbalanced and playing a well-organised team who have a very good defensive record, other than the 3 sloppy goals we gave away I thought the performance was not that bad. One to put behind us and concentrate now on what looks on paper an easier run of fixtures, of course no game in the championship is easy, but if we can get Jaden and Lokilo back as well as Slater after the international break, we should have a good chance of picking up some good points.
Only just watch the goals , total Seri brain failure , decided to play the pass and couldn’t stop himself and it was done - the pass from Alsopp was fine . their 2nd was poor defending 2 men to defend against and we piled into the box and forgot to look at where the they were - defended the space and not against st the men - poor day
