Charming as ever. Perhaps Ben can clarify why he posted the clip and we'll see if I'm as dim as you think or perhaps - as he's already clarified in fact - the clip shows that all manner of playing out can result in poor goals conceded if the players have a mare? That just because a keeper smashes it long it can still quite quickly result in a goal conceded.
Obviously Seri ****ed up but I don't think the keeper should be giving him the ball there just pass it out wide
just look at the highlights and you'll see that Allsop caught the ball from a West Brom cross there was no backpass!
It’s not wrong though. Keepers played it long. Ball has ended up back with the defender who’s made a howler. The only consistent thing between that goal and our first we conceded is a player making an error which can happen however you play football
I think he sees a post by me and blindly mashes at his keys about 'misreading' and being wrong. He has pre-formed opinions on pretty much everything which is rather sad to see, has no ability to explore nuance and the possibility that his view is flawed. Sad way to live but I suppose it's his right.
To be fair there's another element to the high risk play that hasn't been mentioned yet. It's not just the goal conceded when it goes wrong - there's an aftermath. I reckon it'd be accurate to say it has the same sort of effect as missing a penalty. Misplaced passes started creeping in after that goal and it effected Seri more than everyone else, understandably so. He hit two decent edge of box efforts into row Z as the game went on. We did come back and finish the half strongly. Biggest issue today was the lack of wingers. If we'd started with Allahyar and Christie out wide instead of say, Tufan and Traore, or Twine and Traore or whoever, its hard to say if we'd have done much better. We'd have created more space, but we'd be losing two players who have quality on the ball.
there is no advantage of practising getting into ridiculous situations better to learn not to get into a ridiculous situation from having the ball in the possession of the goalkeeper
I stand mistaken. However, the fact is Wallace had blocked the avenue off. Yes in theory we could have played it out sooner to Jones or Macca but genuinely everything about this set up is what we’ve seen countless times and we’ve seen it work countless times. Seri played a **** pass that he’s made over and over again. It is what it is. He makes that pass to Jones then Jones has it facing forward and has options in Coyle and Morton. it was a mistake. They happen regardless of what playstyle we play. Its really not difficult to grasp
I would agree but there is the caveat of I’ve yet to see Seri hit a decent shot since Bristol at home last year
Wallace wasnt blocking a pass from Allsop to Jones look at the goal again Allsop could easily pass to Jones but I dont see what Jones could do with the ball that Allsop couldnt
Allsop could throw the ball to Coyle or Morton without Jones getting involved I dont see the advantage of a goalkeeper not using his hands in such a situation
If you re-read my post I’ve agreed with you the pass was initially on to Jones. However, once the pressure was invited on and Allsop had turned his body there’s zero chance he makes that pass to Jones. He attempts to pass to Macca and the other striker is there to press. you’re select reading my comments to fit your narrative. If you’re going to ask me to rewatch a video at least have the decency to re-read the comment
because that’s how we want to play and it’s worked countless times before. Inviting pressure on leads to space being left elsewhere. look I get it. It’s not in your football philosophy for how you’d like City to play. To cherry pick this instance as a be all and end all as to why playing for the back won’t work is honestly just tiring. To also look back on every micro moment with huge amounts of hindsight is pointless. fact is come Monday they’ll probably look at what happened and they’ll review it. They’ll either tell Allsop to play it quicker, highlight where he could’ve passed it once the pressure was invited or tell Seri what he could’ve done better. fact is it’s a mistake made by a human being and that’s not down to playstyle. Seri makes that pass to Jones and we don’t have this argument. Allsop plays it out quicker and we don’t have this argument. It’s really not ****ing difficult
that is wrong again Allsop could just have picked the ball up and thrown it to whoever he wanted to he didnt have to pass to Jones who was anyway standing a few yards to his right
no he couldn’t? Once he’s put the ball down from the cross he subsequently can’t pick it back up. If you’re going to call me wrong at least know the rules
Yeah but we don't have the modern reincarnation of a serial killer in midfield, so we're soft... Obviously... The guy telling us this works in primary education. So you should take your ticking off and not question him evidently. He mght send a referral to social services. Terrifying as that might be to the rest of us, or any other sane human being.... 'little liam did well this year, stopping goals going in and turning us from relegation fodder to top 10 candidates. - but he still hasnt written a classic novel, or made a team with a top 10 budget an automatic promotion certainty, so it's an F minus...
