Good to see Zak back and give some leadership to the back four. It seems a lot of the stated ‘injuries’ have now cleared up. It’s a strong starting 11, so should be enough to see of Sheff Weds….
We look all over the place as usual and our passes up front are at times quite shocking which is our main achilles heel when it comes down to scoring goals. Max is always a heart attack for we older supporters and my confidence in him is waning but as in most things Bristol City we have no known suitable back up plan between the pipes. We give the ball to the opposition all too easily, generally on the second bite, and if we continue to keep turning backwards towards our own goal then we will perish by our usual late goal from some kind of error. Just as I said the word "error" we almost gave away a simple goal to exactly what I was worried about a few minutes ago.
Barry Bannan gets a red card for a tackle on the edge of the area which possibly stopped a goal for us. Almost a goal for us but we end up with a corner and playing against 10 men will make our task more difficult as Sheffield will now park all the buses to stop us getting the advantage.
If we can’t beat the bottom of the table side, at home with them down to 10 men for what will be an hour, then it’s not good….
We aren’t doing ourselves any favours, poor passing, creativity disappointing, even against 10 men not controlling the game whatsoever, in fact Shef W seems no worse off.. All a bit poor imo
Half-time! Bristol City 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday The whistle goes and the visitors will be pleased with their efforts to go back down the tunnel and a clean sheet intact. Bannan's dismissal leaves them light in midfield and there are spaces all over the pitch but, at the same time, they're very much bunkered into the middle and not letting the Robins play through them. On the other side of the coin, the hosts will be frustrated a) they didn't get a penalty for Bannan's challenge on Knight and b) that they haven't converted their positive play in possession to any obvious goalscoring chances. They will need to remain patient. (Bristol Post)
Can’t find a link to watch it. A familiar story for us, on top in terms of possession and attempts at goal, yet no goals……
A first half where we had more of the play but can't take advantage of the extra possession due to our poor play across the pitch. Apparently, according to the audio staff, we will be able to take control of the gaps and use them to create chances that we can take at will in the second half. To do that simple task we have to find some gaps and then if at all possible put the ball through the hoop and find one of our players which is a scenario I haven't seen yet. Holding on to the ball too long is one our biggest downfalls as we allow them to crowd out the player and create a possible turn over for the opposition and that could be our late game downfall.
Defo wasn’t a pen, just outside the box.. The only good thing is Akinson is so much better co-commentator than most on Robin TV!!
Dreadful watch, and see why Wednesday are bottom. Oh Max, first 15 minutes a 2 awful passes under no pressure. Supcon, you're not missing anything, it's bloody awful.
I sometimes get this link to work if you can get past the VPN ads….. http://www.fawanews.com/Bristol City vs Sheffield Wednesday.html
