If you beat them today you are level on points. So he's pretty much gotta say you're still contenders, or he'll have to write off Chelsea's challenge if you win.
Sounds like he is a bit worried, not sure why though becuase lets be honest, we have not been very good really have we.
It's still November guys, City have built themselves a nice little cushion at the top but there is a long way to go. If they've maintained or extended that lead by the end of January then it might be a different story - but leading the league and being in sight of your first title for a long time brings its own unique pressure. Personally, I see it as a 3-horse race, Chelsea will get better as AVB settles in, Utd will get results without always playing well. They are both relying in City having a bad patch.
The only thing I agree with is "It's still November". Todays game is not season defining for either club. Having said that a win for either will boost confidence even more than the 3 points. There's a long way to go and many twists and turns. City could crumble under pressure but then who is to say that United's present form is not the best that they can achieve this season?. As the season goes on the gaps will close.
Bugger, sorry I did not have your confidence, still prob would have ripped it up with ten minutes to go as we looked doomed at that point.
