blimey, got a few versions of that! bit of a merseybeat staple. don't recall hearing the stones' version though. got it by the merseybeats, tony jackson (ex-searchers), kingsize taylor & the dominoes (derek's day off again), the tornadoes, and also on a northern soul album by benny spellman, which appears to be the original. also maybe others on vinyl.
Indeed. With all this recent AI advancement/useage in the music industry, it wouldn't surprise me if other tunes end up as spawned "covers" of many of these classic bands in the future to swell their "estate revenue" pots ! There was a recording of Fortune Teller by an Aussie band "The Throbs" back in the mid/late 60s - almost could be the Stones version ! I was at the original "Who Live at Leeds" concert in '70 and FT was in their set list - not that I remembered until I checked today ! https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/the-...iversity-of-leeds-leeds-england-1bd61174.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fortune_Teller_(song)#:~:text=Cover versions, the Hollies and the Who.
surprised the who would consider it, but in the early days there'd be surprises like that. led zep did hello mary lou live, though they should have checked out the lyrics first instead of singing the same wrong verse too many times. there was a series of three albums i have called unearthed merseybeat and some of the tracks were home recordings made by bands of assorted fame and talent, generally before fame landed on them. i expect lots of us have recordings on old cassettes that aren't quite production quality. i've some old recordings made with assorted friends and i'm hoping to use modern software to tidy them up and make them more listenable. i did long ago harbour ideas about taking samples from beatle songs to create new beatle tracks. modern software might allow such a thing, though it'd either have to be something i wrote or a cover of something.
You're right, some great stuff out there that could be cleaned up by some of the desktop music editing software available. It's like heaven out there if you get the right editing software. Was going to be my retirement project at some point, but I haven't got round to starting yet as there's so much stuff. Just now as we speak, I even discovered this new (to me) Who concert from the States (see below) which was recorded same year as "Live at Leeds". I suppose I should feel somewhat guilty, but having spent a fortune on vinyl, cassettes, CDs an DVD's over the last 50+ years my guilt is somewhat assuaged !
I know it's not Friday but I needed to share this. If anyone is into Electronic music then they need to listen to this man's stuff. I honestly believe he is the best musician on the planet at this moment. His name is Waajeed.
