All being well, the final foal out of Kind - Kikkuli - will make his debut in the first at Newmarket tomorrow. By Kingman, the colt was raised on a foster mare after Kind sadly died. A half brother to 6 winners, headed of course by Frankel.
Wetherby OFF Newmarket going Heavy but a dry, breezy day forecast so it may get sticky! An early start too, I shall be on course for the first 4 races.
Santa Anita [Breeders Cup] Juan Hernandez is the top jockey to follow here, so will back his six rides 7.40-Honey Pants...each way @ 11-1 [Bet 365] 4 places 8.15-Last Call London...Win @ 4-1 9.40-Esprit Enchante...each way @ 20-1 [Bet 365] 6 places 10.20-Flattery...each way @ 20-1 [Bet 365] 8 places 11.00-Muth...Win @ 9-2 11.40-Endlessly....each way @ 10-1 [Coral] 4 places
The 12;50 looks interesting (2yos on heavy ground). Romantic Style was fav when I started looking at the race but, despite Appleby' VG record at the track, he (the horse) looked vulnerable encountering heavy ground for the first time whilst Serene Seraph seemed to relish it as did Stop The Cavalry on debut. The interesting one is Adaay In Devon who has been beaten in lower class races (on a sound surface) but is 4 from 5 on a soft surface (also in lower grades) and today travels 219 miles to run in a Class 1, up in grade)
A bit hurried to get that in before the start but it has been delayed until 13.00. Seems Serene Seraph is 3/1 fav according to Timeform, although now switched back to Romantic Style 11/4 fav
Well Romantic Style won in style and, as pedigree suggested, was not inconvenienced by the ground. Good run from Adaay In Devon who took up the running 2 out but was overrun by the fav and finished 2nd at 12/1
Just the one for me at Newmarket, in the (15:10), a 1-1/2 mile Class-3 Handicap on heavy ground. The one that takes my eye is the Born To Sea geldng, Torcello, who certainly has a decent chance in this event. Joe Fanning rides for the Shaun Lycett stable. 5/1 (BetMGM/BetUK) best price at time of writing. Open race so will make it E/W. (Prices from Oddschecker)
On holiday in Lanzarote and not being able to bet sucks, however, I still keep an eye on the forum every time I get an all inclusive beverage, so about every hour.
