Onana - terrible signing. His record is shcoking and already proven for utd. this is the final nail in ten haag's coffin.

Mount made zero sense unless ferandes was dropped. an utter waste of 60mil

Holjund is a young lad with a bad injury record thrown in at the deep end. Yeah he looks a trier.

    Eriksen- cant run. the end.

Evans - hilarious. absolutely the pits of a signing that shows where they are. decrepit.

Casemiro who cannot run for 70mil. absolute joke.

anthony - indulgent, nasty, spoofer. this signing will hang ten haag. you knew what he was like form ajax and you went for it at a much bigger club in terms of expectations.

martinez- a nasty little fouler. the operative word being little. in the prem this does hurt when you've more big forwards who are exploiting it.

you've made the point on coaching.

the reality is rashford looked bothered for about 6 months, he is again not bothered but assured his start. Sancho was the only one bothered to run for OGS and he's been stabbed in the back by Ten haag and such. I couldn't point to one single player who's improved under tin hat, nor a consistent type of system.

They are flaky and lack belief. the decision to strip the awful maguire of the captaincy then hand it to the absolutely unsuited Fernandes says it all.

If i compare and contrast LFC 2022/23 with Man utd.

Matip unwilling to make a tackle
    VVD well off his best
    Henderson cant run
    Fabinho, can't run
    Firmino unfit
2 serious injuries in forwards so flogging salah and gakpo

    Now utd
    Varane 30 but always injured
maguire 30 but awful, no pace
2 LB injured so they play a rcb there who is also awful
    Casemiro 31 going on 50, can't run
    Ambarat donkey
Eriksen 31, on a pacemaker and can't get about too well either.
fernandes 29, no longer a dynamo and busy player, he's more interested in play acting.

Utd look like spurs did last year already, seeing out the games and waiting for the change of manager. they ended 8th.

LFC were BAD last year but a few players dragged us through like salah and alisson. Utd's senior players are not dragging them along.

A lot of this looks to be down to bad atmosphere around the home ground, flaky players who are making that worse, no real tactical nous being displayed by the manager.

As I look at things today:

    a) Is there no young lb anywhere in that club to play? If not is there seriously no LW who could be made do a job? could they not put the woeful wan biscuit over there and play someone at RB? could they not swap to a city style 3241?
    b) their injuries are not that massive. Martinez out til january, Malacia is close. Shaw is probabaly close now, sancho is self inflicted.
    c) Whos going to work hard and deliver for them.

Taking the big name signings of Varane and Casimiro. There's a reason Real Madrid are willing to part with these players.
Face it when ever Real sell a player who's played in there first team there's a very good reason, they're no longer worth it.

Its not like Odegaard where they gave up waiting for him to develop.

Real looked at Varane and Casimiro, weighed up what they could offer and decided they'd no longer be first teamers, at best they'd be expensive squad players.
ManU can claim they bought 'World Class' players, but in reality they bought two players that were once world class for a lot of money. Players that were on the downward climb rather than at the peak (which is what you'd expect for £70m or so), one due to injuries and the other due to fitness.
They bought names rather than players they actually needed.

I always think a player that's always injured and rarely players is worse than someone who doesn't have as much ability but puts the effort in and is actually available

    totally agree.

they vastly over laid for each of them.

if we just look at what newcastle got for actually taking the very small risk on botman and compare to varane.... well botman is injured a lot too but the wages are tiny and he has settled into the prem really well.

man utd don't seem to trust scouts and only seem to want to buy ex ten haag players or names.

I suppose holjund at least bucks the trent of buying old farts

    Can't argue with that

One of the reasons I was against him being signed and why I'm against him getting a new contract.

A rare misstep for Klopp, going for the idea of someone rather than someone who fitted what we needed.

    nah. it's massively different.

we spent 45mil in the same window on jota.

we added an option at the time not relying on him.

i'm saying that if we could buy jota at 45mil then clearly 20mil for thaigonwasna very affordable option type signing not a major splash of cash like 70 on casemiro

I mean, we signed thiago in 2020 for 20.

they signed casemiro for 70 in 2022

even on the worst inflation going that's a huge amount for a cast off compared to our cast off

we replaced wijnaldum with thaigo on the basis of having fabinho amd henderson 3 years ago and having kids coming up. not the most ambitious move but we wanted the striker.more and it was coivd

utd didn't have a great situation but has mctominay and Fred so splashed massively on a player to play.

i was referring to the idea he was an "option" think most expected him to be a main first team player .

Well given his record with injury before and seeing him as a 60min player at bayern I did expect us to use him as a different option to the functional midfield.

we had "the trying to pretend not to be a total crock" keita, the "I admit I'm a total crock" oxlade and milner too.

thaigonwas seen as another different style of player when we had 70% of the ball. the passer and controller.

yes hisnwage certainly suggested he was going to have a big role but certainly not a solution to every game.

it must also be said windy played 38 games in 20/21 and henderson only 21 in the league

And he was. When ever he’s played he’s always been our best midfielder and our stats show we do better with him compared to without.

Would love to see him play along side szobo and Mac in a midfield 3.
