Then as Ponky says - if that is to be the prevailing principle, you would have to undertake DNA tests to see who has / has not got Canaanite blood in their veins - Now I'm no geneticist - but I suspect you'd end up with a population in modern Israel consisting of more 'arabic' people than 'jewish' people ... ...but if such a concept is going to become the base rule for deciding who gets a particular disputed land or territory ... just imagine the celebrations in a united Ireland
