The squirming from current ministers like Letwin, the Boris/Sunak supporters, etc, is so cringing it's actually funny. The Boris arse-lickers are urging everyone to 'move on', despite him being PM at the time and claiming all the credit for our Covid response. He's front page news, live with it. All the Sunak brigade are blaming Johnson and claiming he knew absolutely nothing at the time despite him pushing himself to the front at every opportunity and working in the same building. Of course everyone's knifing each other in the front now, whereas they'd previously knifed each other in the back ... there's no honour among thieves, or conmen like this bunch. They've been the worst government I can remember, way worse than Brown or May, and very few will come out with any credit ... ... no wonder they tried to block this enquiry
it is the 'sh1t-show' that have wanted to avoid for many years and they usually succeed, but this one hit so many people/families too hard and there are so many stories to be told about the governments actions...they will be fighting hard to close it down as soon as they can and will expect some of them to take the rap before the whole structure is beyond repair. personally, i would like to see the whole thing completely altered, at least until they have to declare the reason why they needed every freebie plus the reasons why they feel the need to cut all services (possibly to get rid of them all for private companies to take over)...basically, there are a bunch of people in the background making decisions and nobody else gets to hear about 'the process' we just get fed the result, pretty much like VAR at the minute.
The main question for everyone taking part here, especially those now flinging ****, is 'did you make anyone aware at the time of the issues you're telling us about now?' If not, if in fact they were aware of the problem and said nothing, then they're almost as accountable. It's that culture of 'if I say anything it'll ruin my career' laid bare here. A toxic working environment doesn't mean you have to go along with it - keep a record of everything you're told to do and every time you raise an issue and where the response came from, so when it all gets out, you're covered. It's a weapon you can use at your own work - asking for orders written in an email would always flush out the ones they knew they shouldn't be issuing. Cummings might be a psychopath, but he always seems to be able to produce receipts for his actions.
Since I left school nobody has ever made me do something that I didn’t think was right. No matter what the circumstances would have been.
Was just wondering , is any other country having such an enquiry? Other countries must have made some mistakes or made the wrong judgement - if they don’t feel it necessary , is it another reflection of just how bad those government people of ours were/are.
That's the problem mate, Johnson instigated a public school entitled culture where everyone thought they'd get away with murder because the school bully was running the show. Those squawking now don't have to answer to him anymore, there are no cushy jobs or peerages to think about and no midnight thrashings. It's like they're playing a childish game of pass the parcel to see who ends up with the blame ... ... pathetic, all explained below Rules of the Tory Club please log in to view this image When the party’s over. The Rules of the Bullingdon Club are simple. You must be: Rich Posh Sociopathic Misogynistic Secretive Well-tailored The Bullingdon Club is for wealthy young men at Oxford University whom, it is said, burn £50 notes in front of beggars as part of the initiation ceremony and trash restaurants and public houses after elaborate dinners – which they pay for in cash. Bullingdon Club all-male members – Bullers – learn at elite public schools that they are special, chosen, above the law. Most Bullers attend Eton, but also Harrow, Westminster, St. Paul’s, Radley, Rugby, Charterhouse and Stowe. Britain has had a total of 55 prime ministers. Of these 20 attended Eton, 7 went to Harrow and 6 Westminster. Throughout almost two-thirds of modern history, we have been ruled by the same class with the same objectives and, for the most part, the same tailor. Of those 55 prime ministers, 28 (more than half) studied at Oxford and 13 at Cambridge. Six prime ministers have come from the ranks of Labour.
It’s also a reflection of the sheer lack of trust in our government, in particular Boris. I mean I’m pretty sure he has been proven to be untrustworthy in just about every single position he has held.
Scotland. Nicola Sturgeon and all her close companions have deleted their WhatsApp messages so they cant be produced, now.
Let's be thankful he didn't see the video about drinking bleach killing it like Trump did. Might have lost a few of his fan boys
FFS, the man who thought he was the reincarnation of Churchill If you listen carefully you can almost hear the sound of Boris posters being pulled off the bedroom walls of middle aged men who drooled over him
Other countries doing the same mate. Dutch and Swedes finished theirs. Aussies ongoing. In France they are doing different types I think, and there have been criminal proceedings brought against govt for criminal neglicence. Italy passed some laws to allow an inquiry and I think at one point the govt were facing legal action. Germany govt refused to have one at one point but public pressure may have changed that I dont know. My understanding, which isnt detailed, is a lot of countries are under pressure to have one and lots of general populations want lessons learned. We arent alone in thinking our govt got stuff wrong. What interests me is whether we will share findings across countries. Sweden I think it was didnt enforce lock downs and I think their report says that was broadly correct. They were criticised for not shutting restaurants and for their approach to elderly care. I would hope, at some point, we get to a common conclusion on whether some of the fundamental decisions were right or wrong in hindsight. For me the big one is closing schools, but that is a personal position I know. I would bet good money that will be a decision regretted in history books to come. The impact we allowed to our kids was woeful in my opinion, really awful, and we have done little to make it up to them. These are the sort of things we need to understand through the inquiries across the world - which decisions were least bad so we know for next time. Currently we are in the juicy bit about govt competence and actions by individuals. I think that is necessary and worthwhile. I hope it doesnt dominate though for the next 2 years. I think most people know how dysfunctional the UK govt were and still are, how awful Johnson, Hancock and co were, and how Cummins was an imposter. The lesson should be dont vote for idiots, but I have little hope that lesson will be learned. I do hope some lessons about how to look after vulnerable groups, like old and young folk are learned, are key to these inquiries. I may be naieve in that hope, as always.
The Bozo fan club must be non existent now - you’d have to be utterly delusional or so desperate not to lose face for being taken for a fool to still be trying to defend this proven charlatan. Tory party will suffer for generations for backing these far right loons at the expense of the population, imo.
For some people there's no going back mate. Those who so slavishly praised Boris Johnson, that they backed themselves into the tightest corner, have no way out. They'll twist themselves inside out and humiliate themselves because they can't bring themselves to admit he's a worthless tosser. To do that they'd have to admit how pathetically gullible they were ... ... they can't do that so they'll have to find something, anything, to blame rather than face the truth.
It never existed in the first place. The only people who ever held a candle for him were those who still can't stop talking about him like he's still PM. He was a fart in the wind - didn't do much of anything at all - but those who have to have a Boogeyman to suit their political dogma try to make him out to be Thatcher mk2.
