I'd heard about the shaved head thing at the time from a family member who had a few connections at the club back then. He also banned the likes of U2 and Simple Minds from being played on the team bus as it was "rebel music". He alienated catholic players (Gordon Armstrong is catholic) and players for the ROI, and only wanted to sign protestants. He tried to create a Rangers/Celtic thing with us, among other things that he did, and was basically a bully. I was always surprised he lasted as long as he did, but back then you didn't have social media to spread stuff as quickly as it can today.

Butcher was an utter arsehole of the highest order. The players hated him, according to one I met at the time.

He was also cometely useless , trading on a reputation as a former international footballer.

Awful chancer. High on the list of our worst ever managers. Probably third after Makemenemy and Moyes the Dreadful. He has been a serial failure and a horrible tw*t to go with it.
