Lyon coach attacked prior to their match at Marseille tonight in France. Lyon coach has head injuries from rocks thrown through coaches window. Bonkers
French football is much more violent than here. I was asked to 'steward' at Nice, by a Gendarme mate who moonlighted there. My first match was against Bastia, from Corsica, and it was like a poll tax riot ... ... I was attacked by both sides for being a Rosbif Englishman Good money but I never went again.
Canny mix of different cultures down there at Marseille. Bit of a melting pot. Just hear dthat about the manager while waiting for the AC Milan game to come on.
I was in Marseille with England, in the world cup, and it was brutal. There's lots of unemployment, immigrant North Africans and the usual drug/crime/prostitution you get with a bit international port. Lyon is a big rival, traditionally very French and with better employment and wealth. As they're both big clubs, with few real local rivals, they've developed a rivalry just as Palace and Brighton have.
It's a shame tbh. Great seafood restaurants, lovely Old Port and the Cathedral during daylight ... ... at dusk the cruise ship passengers scurry off like prison cockroaches
My parents have done a fair few med cruises over the last few years tbh and they love Italy, Croatia and few other places along the coast. But they aren't convinced by the French leg of the journey.
Leicester v Leeds on Friday night - let’s see how Leeds get on at Leicester and compare that to how we did.
Well the runaway leaders, according to the media that is, only just managed to beat us then struggled past 10 Man Rangers which took a very special strike to win that game so I give Leeds as much chance as we had.
Amazing how many teams score **** flukey goals like that, when we have to create a work of art every time
