He will balance the books. And probably invest for them to get up to top championship levels. He has enough money to do that. He can’t compete at the top of the PL.

After everything he put into the club, building the stadium and surrounding facilities, taking the club from old Div 3 to brief spells in the top flight, as well as developing a football academy in the local area. Ashley is a great owner for any championship club or below. I predict Reading being promoted, doing well in general and Newcastle fans being told they had a good owner but had unrealistic expectations. It's going to be a labyrinth of opportunity for the media.
