Wow was not expecting that, must have someone lined up surely. Some folks getting their Warnock wishes granted by the sounds of it. Can't say I'm that chuffed but will happily eat my words if Colin turns things around. Almost certainly he'll have Chair and Willock playing together at least.

Watching MOTD and see Billing scored from a similar long range chance with the keeper off his line to the one Dykes had which ended up dribbling somewhere near the corner flag.

Neil Warnock set to make shock return for third spell with QPR
Exclusive: Warnock is poised to replace Gareth Ainsworth, who was sacked after a run of nine Championship games without a win

Neil Warnock wants to make a return to Queens Park Rangers and is expected to replace Gareth Ainsworth.

Former Luton Town and Southampton manager Nathan Jones is also keen on the QPR job but it is understood that Warnock is likely to be appointed until the end of the season. An announcement is expected in the next few days.

Despite being 74, Warnock made it clear when he left Huddersfield Town that he wanted to continue in management and carry on with a career that started in 1980 with Gainsborough Trinity.

If he is appointed it will be Warnock’s third spell in charge of QPR having taken them into the Premier League, for the first time in 15 years, in 2011 only to be sacked the following January after a change of ownership and with the team struggling.

Warnock then returned to QPR as caretaker manager in Nov 2015, after being dismissed by Crystal Palace and before Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was appointed. He then returned to be manager of Rotherham United.

Warnock oversaw Huddersfield’s impressive escape from relegation from the Championship last season, his second spell at the club, before signing a new one-year deal but left in September and was replaced by Darren Moore.

When he left Warnock, who has previously retired, suggested he want to carry on with another club. Now it appears that opportunity has come.

Ainsworth was dismissed after a sixth straight defeat left QPR 23rd in the Championship, six points from safety, with the decision appearing inevitable for some time.

Other candidates such as former Birmingham City manager John Eustace have been ruled out with Warnock the choice.

Ainsworth, the former QPR winger was only appointed in February after 11 years at Wycombe Wanderers and won only five of his 28 games. He saw his side beaten 2-1 at home by Leicester City on Saturday. His assistant, Richard Dobson, has also departed.

Lee Hoos, QPR’s chief executive, said: “Making a call such as this is never easy, and it is even more difficult when you have such respect on both a personal and professional level for the individuals concerned – which we all do for Gareth and Richard.

“Many supporters have told me in recent months that they have never wanted someone to succeed more than Gareth, which is an indication of the fondness everyone associated with QPR has for him. Unfortunately, results this season haven’t gone the way we all wanted and we feel a change is necessary.

“We understand the importance of appointing a new head coach quickly and an announcement on this will follow in the coming days.”

Dozzell needs to apologise to his team mates and to the fans
He needs to be fined a month's wages, he knows the injury problems that the team has at the moment and acted like a complete pratt, and as for Jack Colback a little disciple wouldn't go a miss

No, the post didn't show any reply, I tried to change it so that posters could see it but it was all a bit of a muddle.

Warnock may well not be able to turn things around, given the complete mess we're in, but who would you prefer?

The squad of players is certainly good enough to avoid relegation. Just need the right person to get them properly organised and motivated. I'm not a fan of Warnock, but he'd keep us up.

Is it? I’m not honestly that optimistic. The first XI when all fit is ok but as a squad it’s dire IMO. Duke, Bonner, Adomah etc. as our first reserves is bottom end of L1 at a push. The old heads as expected for desperate last minute signings are injured (Cook, Fox) or erratic/**** anyway (Colback).

Who’s genuinely mid-table or better for this league? Chair, Field, Begovic for sure. Salter when fit (rare). Cannon looks fine so far. Dykes on his one good performance in five.

The other regulars are about the level of where we are now. Paal is a woeful defender, Kakay is a fine squad player but not a regular, Dunne meh, Willock wants out, Smyth again a squad player at best for other teams in this league. Armstrong should be on loan in L1 or an option for 20 mins chasing a game.

I don’t mean to sound negative but this is a weak squad no matter who inherits it IMO.

Warnock will get the best out of what you've already got ... and if he's given a few bob to spend in January, he will purchase astutely - he's done it time and time again ...

Bringing on Willock in the 90th minute was a disgrace a player of his quality should be on from the start

I’d have brought him on earlier for sure but he’s not exactly showing much to justify starting when he does play.

Really missed Armstrong yesterday. Feel the way Leicester approached the game would have been ideal for him.

I obviously don't know, but I would guess there was a bit of a falling out there.
It will be interesting to see how Willock and one or two others performs under a new coach.

Did anyone see or hear about a QPR fan having a heart attack outside S Africa Rd before the game? I've since heard that he died on the way to hospital. Very sad, RIP.
