**** off Jonah, may I remind you that 1p5wich are languishing in the championship and have just lost AGAIN ! You really are a sad Bastard !
First time Holt I have ever seen Holt dive. I've seen him go down easily many a time, but he's not a diver.
I have to agree with this! He goes down easily because Graham Poll said on TV that players feeling any contact should go down to make the referee's job easier!
I'm glad you boys have finally seen Holty as the cheating diver that we all knew he is. To get an opposition player sent off by throwing himself to the ground is just beyond the pale!
And our position in the Championship is relevant to Norwich cheating their way to promotion how exactly? Are only Man Utd fans allowed to point this out? Why? What about League Two fans? Are they allowed to comment on anything at all in your braindead world? Typical thick-as-**** Norwich dweeb logic. Go back to arranging your Star Wars figurines in order of appearance and carry on deifying your cheating scum of a captain.
You must have been watching some historical (or hysterical?) nonsense, Warky, because I watched Norwich v Arsenal in its entirety and don't recall any players getting dismissed. All I said was that for a big guy, he has been known to go over with precious little contact, whereas some players manage to stay on their feet. At no stage did I call him a cheat.
Whilst yesterdays dive was indeed that, from where I was there was "some" contact not enough I agree but some however when you look at the stats the simple fact was last season and the one before is that Holt was the most tackled player on the pitch...
I must admit, I find it quite distasteful and a bit embarassing really. I think it was match of the day after the Wigan game where you could hear PL shouting at Holty to "stay on his feet". Makes me cringe really football should not be about throwing yourself on the floor. And I know you can say "that's how the game is these days" and try to justify it. But just because someone else does something does not make it right to do it yourself.
I was very close to the first incident do I had a great view. I felt the first one wasn't a foul but then I felt the one we got a freekick for was a dive.
Holt is a clever player, I'm not going to moan about him going down when he's under a bit of pressure. He knows the rules of the game, and uses them to his advantage, no different to Teirney being "headbutted" or Barton being "slapped". Any manager is going to want a player who wins the volume of free kicks Holty does, he gives his all for the club, and for every "dive", there's at least two examples of him chasing lost causes and winning the ball when he has no right to whatsoever. Holt = Legend. That is all.
I'm not disputing that CS, or what an important player he's been for us since Gunn brought him in. But I, for one, don't like to see the flow of a fast-paced game interrupted by a solidly put together, strong centre forward hitting the deck at the faintest hint of contact. Wes doesn't do it and he's half the size of Holt. I'd prefer to see us get results without having to resort to gamesmanship tactics - regardless of what Meireles etc do most weeks.
Contact, whats all this about contact? Since when are we playing basketball? And the pedantic can call it what they like but Holt dives, falls, lands whatever you want to call it. We love Holtie and some think its OK but Ronaldo or Drogba are nobs and Grants a good guy don't wash. I don't care what team or player, to me its not right and there is absolutely no defence. And before someone says what if he gets a pen in the last game of the season and we stay up, it will be wrong all the same and the team that went down would ambush us.
well i can hardly argue. he dived on saturday and was correctly booked holt does nothing different to what kevin davies or alan shearer made a career out of doing. if he gets clipped and feels contact he goes down. most of the time its valid to do so. saturday was not. it was embarrassing and i won't defend him. i only defend him when there is a defence but he hasn't one on this occasion. on a side note, dowd was getting some grief (not just about his waiste line which was sumo-style)... personally thought he had an excellent match and should therefore be praised
on a further side note, warky, jonah, just wondering if you were so quick to jump on west brom's steven reid who was awarded a penalty against us earlier this season for exactly the same lame dive? nothing springs to mind about your lambasting of that particular incident... can you be more consistent please! most of the time your abuse towards holt has very little if no foundations but you have every right this time to have a go at holt - he deserves it
Steady on Superman, anybody who praises a referee is very likely to get a visit from the men in white coats!
dave, i can be quick to criticise an official who has a 'mare but i shall also praise one who lets the game flow and doesn't fall for any mischief. fair play to arsenal too who played the game the right way without the histrionics of those before like west brom and stoke. good side, just a shame we didn't play anywhere near well enough to make it a contest (other than the close scoreline, we were never really a threat)
