I think the same about most posters on here. It is clear that there are some, only a few mind, who think Israel/Palestinians are entirely blameless and that one or the other shouldn't exist at all. For the most part my impression is that we are all aiming at the same goal, the debate is over how to get there. And as this debate has raged in real time for 75 years without ever coming close to an answer that actually works, it should come as no surprise that this is such a divisive issue and opinions on it will range widely.
Hamas knowingly gambled this the minute the first bulldozer crossed that fence. They knew that the scale of what they planned would bring about their ultimate destruction or, at least, a concentrated attempt to bring that about. Their gamble was that other groups, mainly those in Syria and Hizbollah in Lebanon, would enter the conflict in its earlier stages and stretch Israel's capacity to respond to breaking point by opening up multiple fronts. Their only escape route was therefore hoping for a regional war that would force a ceasefire and a prisoner exchange. But the West's response, and in particular America's, was not part of Hamas' gamble. The speed and firmness with which western governments linked any regional flare ups directly with Iran was unprecedented and wholly unexpected. The American attack on the Syrian airbase the other day only reinforced that the west means what they said: any widespread conflict on Israel's north and north eastern borders will basically be treated as the trigger for World War III. Hamas gambled. They gambled at a time when the most right wing government in Israel's history sits in office. They gambled, but the people of Gaza were the chips.
There's a journo who is working for the BBC I believe. I presume he's s Gazan native and his family are living in this situation with him His reporting has been consistently brilliant. No big swathing opinions on the matters, just nitty gritty on the ground. Balls of steel
A detailed 212 page report of 6747 people killed by the bombings in Gaza has been released by the Palestinian Health Ministry. The list includes the name, age, gender, and ID number of each person killed, including 2665 children. In the past I've noticed the number of children killed. It started at approximately 100 a day. It's average is now 125 per day. Nothing justifies this killing, nothing, it's a massacre. That's just how I feel. The 6747 number did not include bodies yet to be recovered from under the rubble, which is estimated to be another 1000.
Been thinking that every time I have saw a video, I commented in a post a few days ago that I cannot understand how the authorities got those numbers so quickly as they surely have so many people under rubble and not accounted for, you will have no idea if they're on the run somewhere, hiding or dead. I can only imagine that bodies will be found for the now, years, it will take to rebuild this city.
The numbers are documented by the hospitals that record the deaths and pass it on to Ramallah which release the figures. There are also some bodies which have been recovered but not identified which also aren't included. Like you say it could take months or longer to identify them all. It's horrific.
You have just hit the nail without meaning to. Who will re-build the city? not the Pallistinians i would think. The terrorist act of Oct7th has been used as an excuse to clear land for a new Israeli settlement, the current civilian population is being exterminated and the land cleared of buildings much quicker than bulldozers could achieve. Call me cynical but this has given Israel a weak excuse to commit genocide and the world is standing by watching.
I said once the extremely heavy bombings began and the Palestinians were ordered to head south that the plan was clearly to either annex Northern Gaza or to split the land in two sections with the Wadi Gaza river acting as a naturally occuring border between the two sections. This has two massive benefits for Israel, first and foremost, the largest bulk of Hamas tunnels are located in Northern Gaza, there will be repairable infastructure in place for a wealthy nation like Israel to rebuild the city in their image, much like Tel Aviv, or they could rebuild the city for Palestinians, but split it off into controlled chunks as they have done for large portions of the West Bank. the USA has made it very clear, they are bombing anything that sniffs at Israel and knocking missiles out the sky. The Israelis can do as they please.
I think this is what happens when you embed fear into people, Hamas embedded fear into Palestinians who now get shot/bombed at whichever way they turn or refuse to turn. Hamas embedded fear into Israelis by their act on the 7th Oct. Thus then rightly or wrongly, those fears play out to suppress the cause. Let's not kid outselves, this is not just the fear of lsraelis or Palestinians, it's the fear of many people especially throughout Europe, when and where will the next terrorist act happen, what can we do to stop it happening. Fear breeds hate, hate breeds the worst in humans and the consequences are huge death tolls, due to extremists who don't care about using a human as a shield, who don't care about killing their foe by any means possible, conquer the fear, then you stop the war, as we did with the Nazis in 1945. The result either way is a bloodbath, I gave Mauripol as an example earlier today, Putin obliterated his fear, as the West chose to do nothing to stop it, not in real terms and many people were buried in the rubble or mass graves by bulldozers as if they were human trash, never to be identified, ever. The only difference the later people were just forgotten by everyone, no march, no tears, just pictures of rubble burying the secrets of human evil forever and there are many other examples of atrocities thoughout the human race history .
I can't answer this but am pretty sure the best way is not to indiscriminately kill thousands of innocents by carpet bombings, this will only breed/create more terrorists with hate in their hearts and nothing left to lose because their families are gone.
It is a massacre. A calculated and live streamed massacre with the world's leaders cheerleading for it. about as horrendous as it gets
of course it will but like everything, there is always a primary underlying cause, whether that be Hamas, the nazi's or Putin. One of those have been obliterated, two have not. Let's not kid ourseves either, Iran are itching to get involved, but the US have taken a hard stance and said go on then, chance your luck.
Fair enough, if you are happy that the indiscriminate killing of thousands of civilians by use of a very well equiped and trained military is the right reaction to the the actions of a terrorist group i will not argue with you. Shame all that flattened land will go to waste after though because there will be no population left to re-build on it.
I've never once said I'm happy with it, I've never once blamed the Palestinian people, obviously you are not capable of a grown up conversation, so I'll leave you in peace.
Well it's no longer being live-streamed because they've cut all communications. I think there's literally one CCTV camera still operating outside a hospital. Also wouldn't go as far as to say they're cheerleading it, but they are excusing it. If nothing justifies the massacre on 7th October, then nothing justifies the killing of thousands of women and children in Gaza either. A ceasefire is needed, between both Hamas and Israel. This is just a bloodbath.
You know this is a fair point, yes it does breed more terrorists BUT there's another point also worth considering. Every child killed in Gaza and Israel COULD have been the next peacemaker. Just think about that
Sorry brb, i really like you but feel you are playing devils advocate and attempting to find excuses for an inexcusable massacre of innocent people.
