A few of us were saying it in the summer about Vinagre, it really shouldn't have been a surprise. All the debate around whether he was injured at Everton or just ****, the fact was he barely played in the last twelve months.

It's amazing though, you criticise a signing at the time and everyone gets on your back saying to give them time and the benefit of the doubt, but then if you bring it up months later everyone says "Well you only say that with the benefit of hindsight" !!

Hopefully if it’s a sell out as they say the attendance should be over 24.5k, but it won’t be, it will be 22k summat

Just for balance, would you mind pointing out all the times you called it wrong?

Don't think that minority sport even reached Preston (Lancs)?

It was 24221 for Leeds, so I don't see why it can't be as high as that tomorrow. Even then it's over a thousand seats for segregation which does seem a lot, but seems to be the standard at the MKM.

Hang on a minute. In the summer the noise around Vinagre was all about how stupid we were for signing him because he had a serious Achilles injury. That's what the disagreements were about, some of us pointed out that using a month-old, vague Sean Dyche quote as definitive proof of such an injury was a bit daft as we wouldn't have been signing him if it was that bad, and so it proved. The only one I remember saying he was actually a bad player was the Portuguese poster (HFFP?).

In any case, I don't think he's been hopeless, he's just not nailed down the position as his own as you'd hope a new signing of his pedigree would.

I agree he certainly hasn't been bad, I think he just needs a bit of work on his defensive side, then he will be a very good LB.

I thought Vinagre was ace in the first half against Southampton. In fact, I felt as though the whole team looked as balanced as they have done in a good while.

    I didn't think we'd sell Oscar without a replacement.

Fair point, my recollection of the discussion was "Well if he wasn't injured he must have been ****" considering Everton were crying out for a fullback, but I take your point that the discussion wasn't as direct about his quality as I made it out to be.

It's pretty cool how much our attendances have improved this season.

I thought we'd have to be in the PL again to see us selling out the ground again.

Are the attendance figures people present or tickets sold? My lad is a member but can't make it (is on holiday in Portugal), I wonder if he will be counted in the attendance or not?

    Tickets sold
    Tickets distributed
    Announced attendance
    Actual turnstile attendance

For any given game all four of these numbers will be different from each other, the announced attendance will be the highest (and the only one that’s not true!), the turnstile attendance will be the lowest of the four.

In short you will be counted if you don’t turn up!

It is tickets sold. Which is why clubs with a lot of fans from elsewhere, the two Manchester clubs, Liverpool etc are shown as sold out and tickets are unavailable but there are empty seats as they don’t turn up for the mundane games. The police released figures through the turnstiles at Old Trafford a few seasons ago as they use those for planning future policing requirements. Every game showed as a 74,000 sell out but the lowest figure through the turnstiles was 58,000 against Southampton and the highest 72,000 for the game against Liverpool.

It’s actually tickets distributed not tickets sold, every club hands out freebies to sponsors, families…etc, these count above what has actually been sold.

Even then clubs tend to add on a few to the final announced attendance for good measure.

The police numbers are the turnstile attendance, the only true measure of who attended the game.
