not quite, never been to Shrewsbury! @Sweats lives in Worcester though, I'm sure he can help. Been to a few pubs there but was pissed to be fair. There's one his mate runs that was good iirc.
This London hotel seems really good, parking, breakfast all under £100 Hopefully it is good and we'll use again. Our Austrian friends are visiting so we thought we'd go say hello. We're going to be around Covent Garden and Soho so plenty of pubs and places to eat..
Not sure which one we're going to yet but I've voiced my concerns about Birmingham and they are doing a lot of work in the center at the moment and everyone agreed we should go somewhere else. Mrs luv is the problem, she just loves everywhere so no thought goes into it.
Brum is a ****ing nightmare atm, been there 3 times in the last 10 days for some gigs, getting to a point where I'll travel further to see a band rather than go in there. Shrewsbury is one of those nice market towns by day but because of the number of small villages in close proximity, they hoard in on a weekend, can be a bit of a battle ground at the weekend, young farmers etc, plus being a border town, there is a bit of an anti Welsh element. The EBF don't you know.
the English border front are more mouth than trousers though but I’ve been there with Cardiff on numerous occasions and we tend to do what we want when we travel….
Mate, Walsall, Wrexham and even Chester take the piss there. They had a couple of big noises in the England scene at one stage but even one of those had his arse handed to him on more than one occasion.
Good information, was planning to go to Brum away with Swans in January as me and my sons yearly away day, but might swerve it if a hassle and see who they get 3rd round of FA cup instead. Which will probably be Rotherham at home. Which would mean revert back to Brum away! What's the problem with there?
Making lots of the roads one way in the city, bus lanes only etc, plus the HS2 works around Digbeth. My normal run to King's Heath from home is 50 minutes, 1 hrs and 50m Wednesday night. The traffic as always been snail pace getting to Brum games, lots of islands that every ****er blocks, so no one gets anywhere fast. If you do decide to go and for the day let me know and I know a decent places to park, 10-15 minute stroll to the ground. If you're doing a city over night, 20-25 minute stroll, still faster than a taxi.
We were talking about Birmingham! But yeah, i'm also no fan of Cardiff. Have never seen the appeal, it's ****e. Their parks are 'fields'. Says it all tbh, they a literally just ****ing fields! And as for beaches, you ever seen Splott beach? The 'best' bit is Pontcanna. A few terrace roads with the odd cafe and shop on. ****e!
Just picked up some blue cheese https://www.leafly.com/strains/blue-cheese Fukin delicious smoke like It Aint been around for ages
30-40 minute walk, via Digbeth, some good pubs but some very dodgy ones down there too. The Anchor is a couple of minutes detour but a good boozer, It's behind the coach station. Near by is The Big Bulls Head, decent but fairly small. The Wellington in the city is a great boozer too. Avoid The Digbeth Tavern and The Kerry Man, both dodgy as ****, match day or not.
