I’ll be honest, I’ve not been impressed with Yeboah, hardly any impact all the times he’s been brought on.. I’m with you Ashton, too soon and Nige would be better using Mehmeti…surely we signed him we should be playing him, otherwise it’s been a bad signing, especially with all the injuries we have..
Things are so tight, if only we only had several injuries instead of nearly a full team. As they said on RB, had we won tonight we’d be 5th, nuts isnt it .
Yeboah fouls too much for me when he is under pressure and several potentially good moves have been ruined by his lack of experience. There is no doubt for me that we miss Zak Vyner and his forward movement which could have allowed us more pressure on their defence to possibly pop one in, although the ball rolling along the goal line was heart stopping. Sadly we don't have the class to really compete against the top clubs and regrettably it has been our achilles heel for far too long and until such time as one of the top brass wake up to the facts of life we will continue to wallow in our own mess.
We seem to have a worryingly recent history of injuries at City, maybe all clubs do. I recall the same issue under a previous regime. He had to get on with it then, as NP does now. Injuries are part of the game, that’s why the squad sizes are bigger now than 30-40 years ago. The managers job is to build a squad to cope with that.
It’s scoring goals is our issue, you can count on one hand how may have scored less in this division, never a good sign…. We don’t create enough chances from our midfield, when we do, we miss them…
I find it strange that the likes of Coventry and Ipswich look a different level to us, especially only being in the league a short time..
If we are going to keep pinging the ball down the wings and then pinging crosses into the penalty box we need a big centre forward-Tommy needs it on the deck to his feet.Never going to win the headers against big central defenders. If we are going to keep playing this way has to be Harry Cornick in the middle only option available. We are so slow at getting into or around the penalty box and getting shots away. Ipswich were quick and decivjse playing on the deck and getting to their front players and getting shots away around the box. We need a goalkeeper -No9 central striker minimum in the next transfer window.
For once I called it right, if not the correct score Having seen Ipswich on the highlights programme, and despite the fact they are new to this division, they look sharper and hungrier than we ever do I honestly think they’ll be there or thereabouts come May And yes, O’Leray should have done better for their goal
I'm not sure about just a big No9, we will then revert to long ball tactics.... an instinctive striker I agree defo .but we do lack height for set pieces. I also believe we need to mix it up a bit, we are quite predictable......We also have a tendency to start well but then allow teams to take the control back to them......our tempo is inconsistent..
Morning 1For, another sunny day in Cyprus and still another week to go. I don't know how I cope. I agree Zac has been missed but only because we dont have a replacement - Pearson had to play King ffs and then a bloody full back when King's hamstring went. You could say the same that we've missed Atkinson but anyway I think it's more a collective issue with injuries of key players rather than one. Naismith is a far more important miss as he impacts defence and midfield options. A Tommy Conway from last season has been much missed also. The bloody stream went down after 20 minutes last night so can't offer much about after. However, besides Max, we certainly missed Williams for their goal, it's exactly where he plays. As for 'influence' Williams, James and Knight have played a big 'influence' this season much as any factor this season. If McCrorie is half the signing Knight is we have surely missed another 'influence'. Back to last night and even the injured ordinary Tanner influenced the outcome by Sykes having to take his position. Im saying it's not one player we've missed it's at least half a dozen through injury. Another influence on our season besides our injuries is that Pearson rates Max. Not the most sensible but I was so mad I'd have subbed him after the Ipswich goal ( I do agree with you about their player being allowed the freedom of Ashton Gate allowing him to get his shot off). Since the weekend Pearson has wished for another 2 in the building, a pity SL hadn't released some of the Scott money. Anyway ..........WAITER ........another cold beer please.
Can’t disagree with much of that RP, it’s good that you have the enjoyment of Cyprus to take your mind of the disappointment of last night!! Have you been to a he tomb of the kings yet (although no kings were ever buried there) quite interesting though!! It is frustrating being a City supporter and has been for decades, just the fact that clubs around can drop leagues, even as far as the conference and still come back and progress better than us.. And we have a say so decent manager.. I’m sure the feeling gets better the more beers you drink.. cheers!
Nakhi, and Weiman exactly, any keeper will eventually let one in if he’s continually exposed, he did well last night and imo was a bit unlucky with the goal, it dipped at the last minute and was in that awkward area by his feet. Didn’t help the guy had so much time and space to set up and shoot, we have to close down quicker.
