There's not one single military analyst or senior American or UK ex-military person saying Israel will take out Hamas. There's estimated to be 40,000 of them. Some may fight but many will disappear. Not just that, but Hamas is an ideology and you won't destroy that through military action. This what Netanyahu is planning is revenge. Kill as many ppl as you can, hopefully you get as many Hamas within that, destroy most of the homes, and obliterate families - just to make some ppl feel good. I even think that all of it supersedes getting the hostages out. And of course it's also a vain attempt by Netanyahu to keep himself in power.
