Exactly what I thought at the time. Never a doubt. Then again, it did allow us to enjoy it twice, so there were compensations.
There's always that slightly nervous sense one feels when a penalty is awarded. It needs converting..! Is it going to be the day when this one is saved or missed..? Well. for me, it barely registers with Rickie. I'm as close to knowing that he'll score as I can possibly get. It feels just like Matt Le Tissier is taking them again. I noticed, in his post-match interview, when Adam Blackmore asked him whether he got nervous while taking them, he even said the same things as Matt used to say... it's a free shot. Saints have been blessed with great penalty takers, down through the years. Peach, Le Tissier, Beatts were all standouts in a bunch of players who barely ever missed. And Rickie is right in there with them. Here's hoping both Saints and Rickie can keep their respective 100% records intact.
Haha look at gus poyet! What a bell. Great result! A mate of mine (a Leeds fan) laughed when I said Rickie was good enough for the Premier League at the start of last season. We always knew!
I like the way you are ignoring the period 2005-2010! I still have nightmares about McGoldrick, Wotton, Idiakez, Best etc...
Agreed, but any ref would surely check the keeper was ready to take the kick. He obviously didn't, which left him in an embarrassing situation.
