He's a brilliant character, a hard-working professional and a leader. I just don't think he's good enough. Of course I'm overreacting because I'm frustrated a 4 defeats from 6 games and O9 has been an absolute rock at times - there aren't many other players who would have made that block challenge on the halfway line - but something has to give with this weak defence of ours
Eh? How can you? Who was Jobe’s man as he was stood in “his zone” all alone. No attacker around him. The ball dropped literally where he was stood. If O’Nien is there, they have free men elsewhere and that’s probably his fault too
Last season we scored 0 goals from corners Towards the end of the season we conceded 5 goals in 3 from corners. Other teams know we are weak Nowt seems to be changing
Played really well tonight deserved a point you would say. Yet again another decision not given to us. Need to be more clinical with our chances. However it is a results business, thats 3 defeats in a row and we've now dropped to 9th. Need to get back to winning ways otherwise those at the top may make changes.
So who was Jobe marking then? Who was his man at that corner? There was nobody anywhere near. Surely if we’re man marking, your 6’3” CM has to have a big lad to mark? It was their first corner and it looked like Mowbray changed it at half time to me as he saw what happened. Stokes second was the same, zonal marking cost us. Has fir most of the dead ball goals we’ve conceded this season
Disagree with you mate, he is good enough and he's proved that time and time again over a long period of time. Our defence has been weak recently because we've had no midfield without Neil and tonight because we've played a 'premier league' team at home on great form. Not because O'Nien has played badly or has been at fault more than anyone else.
Been having a read of their post match thread....quite complimentary of us. https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/topic/133164-lcfc-1-0-sunderland-post-match-thread/#comments
So better not to jump at all then turn round looking confused? Basics of defending is if you can't make the ball, make it difficult for the attacker. We didn't do that and that isn't just 09's fault
On the face of it it looked odd that we left no striker on but he pushed Clarke forward who is the top scorer and brought on 4 players who have scored and/or made goals. I think if we had gone gung ho they’d have got another. That said I think our lack of depth and quality/readiness in midfield and attack is shining through and we’re conceding cheap set pieces so that’s a crap spine which undoes our exciting footballing potential. Unless that spine improves by additions or player development we’ll not improve on last year.
I've not read the thread but thought it was a good performance against an excellent championship side let down by some average shooting. Very happy with that after 2nd half Middlesbrough and Stoke. Frustrating we didn't get a point but one win off 3rd and playing well and in an entertaining style creating chances with players getting better, I'm relaxed. Really enjoyed watching that actually and thought the ref did well despite fearing the worst. I don't think he saw the foul on Neil so can't/shouldn't give it. These things happen, better shooting and we get a deserved point. Same performance Saturday and I think we beat Norwich, onwards and upwards
