I think that's about the best team we could put out. Agreed about Roberts great player to watch but pretty much zero end product this season. Really needs to improve in that area.
The truth is in most of our games this season the midfield is where games are won and lost. Cynical professional pull backs and fouls on our players when in transition and moving forward to attack have been at the forefront of almost every game, even looking back at a lot of the goals we have scored there are normally attempts to foul players in the build up before we score. That's kind of where my gripe with the officials is as they are meant to penalise this kind of spoiling tactic with yellow cards but seem reluctant to do so, and all of a sudden they seem to be letting a lot of pushing of players go unpunished which seems odd. I know that they need to let the game flow but I cant remember a time when the referees got so much wrong so I feel it must be coming from the very top of the PGMOL as the direction they have been given must be wrong. You see it week in and week out in Premier league but if some of the recent decisions against us were as highlighted there would have been uproar because of how poor the officiating has been. I know that the big decisions are the ones which stick out but it is the multitude of poor decisions during games that often lead to other things happening and changing the course of a game. People say they don't want VAR (I don't mind VAR just think the idiots in charge of it should be better at it) but the reality is that Stokes first goal gets ruled out and a possible yellow given to the striker for deliberate hand ball. The constant fouling or attempted fouls on Clarke should have seen a booking in the first half of the Stoke game. M'Boro's tactic was to stop our counter attack any way possible and the ref allowed it to happen time and time again leading to frustration from our players, there is no consistency to it and an apology a few days later does not help. All in all I worry about tonight but my worry is not that we will be out classed it is that Mr Stroud is in the centre and I have no faith in his abilities our only small saving grace may be the TV cameras which I hope makes him call a fair game at least because I do not want to be at work tomorrow talking about referees
0 goals and 0 assists this season. Has to start adding digits in to those columns. I wonder if the Southampton interest has turned his head somewhat? He's been poor since the transfer window (slammed) shut
He seems happy in all the social stuff the club put out but he’s been nowhere near as affective without Amad, Wonder if the Aravena links will start up again closer to jan, think we were linked with another South American winger late in the window but can’t remember the name so could be possible we’re already looking to replace him
When he's on song he's a brilliant player to watch - probably the most skilful player in possession I've ever seen, but so often those incredible runs end in nothing. That run and shot against Boro was amazing.........until he hit it straight at the keeper.
2 goals and 1 assist for Ba. I don't think Roberts has been playing badly or has any issues off the pitch, I just think he's a bit out of form in and around the box. Ba more of a threat for me despite his tender age.
What I don't understand is how Ba wasn't credited for an assist when Dack scored. It may well have been a shot, but he played the ball from Dack to tap in, yet it went officially unassisted.
I still had hopes of going down for this, and staying over, but Mrs Smug isn't great ... ... so I have a couple of spares in the Sunderland section. Shame, I've always wanted to witness the famous Leicester clackers
Great as always RTB still away at work so will be streaming this one hoping for a result of any kind to kick start the team, just got to get behind the manager and his young team and enjoy the ride be it rough or smooth COME ON
Let's hope it's a Red October (My entry for most terrible pun of 2023, I think it's a strong contender.)
We have hope and pray that neither Ballard or Neil miss any games in the run up to Xmas, tbh currently I cant see any cover for either .
Is that right? Yeah that's bizarre, I think it probably was a mishit shot but whether it was or not doesn't matter according to the rules. Chalk up another assist to Ba then.
Last real subdued performance we had was the loss to Hull - game in which we had 64% possession and 21 goal attempts to 7 ... We only had 1 on target whereas they had 4 tbf ... Some interesting insights on this thread (good thread btw) and it will be very interesting to see how the games pans out - the reason our away form has been so good is that teams that attack us leave spaces to exploit and we have been very good at doing just that ... In our home games, nearly everyone, with the possible exception of Cov in the opening game (and it was a Derby) have sat back and looked to contain us ... we've got better at combating that, but the first goal is therefore crucial - if we get it then the opposition have to come out ...and that leaves them vulnerable ... You'll need good full-backs, or cover on the flanks, because our 2 wingers, Mavididi and Futawa are very quick and very direct, in fact, a joy to watch for Leicester fans... Wish you all the best after tonight until the return
