Sunderland Under-21s left it late once again with a stoppage-time winner in the Premier League Cup against Peterborough. Ellis Taylor's second-half free-kick and Henry Fieldson's late header guaranteed three points on the board in Group E. The Black Cats started the brighter of the two sides and nearly had the opener a few moments into the game. Conor Pye got to the byline before cutting the ball back for Hemir, whose effort went just wide of the mark. Pemi Aderoju went closest for the visitors a third into the game with a low effort on the edge of the area straight into the arms of Richardson. Michael Spellman looked to break the deadlock in the opening stages of the second half with an effort on the edge of the area but his strike flew just past the post. On the hour mark, the Lads had their goal. Jones was brought down around 25 yards out and Taylor did the rest. A beautifully curled free-kick into the bottom corner. 15 minutes to play and the Posh grabbed an equaliser, Chiabi bringing down McGlinchey and Corbett dispatching the spot kick. The spot-kick was quickly met with a red card as Peterborough were reduced to ten men. Late substitute Ntege was shown a second yellow following a late challenge. For a third game in a row, the Lads left it late and grabbed a stoppage-time winner. Taylor once again involved with an in-swinging free kick and Fieldson rose above the rest to head home and seal the first points on the board in Group E. Sunderland AFC: Richardson, Pye, Triantis, Fieldson, Taylor, Chiabi, Burke, Jones (Middlemas 75), Ryder (Bainbridge 65), Spellman (Gardiner 65), Luis Hemir Substitutes: Young, Bainbridge, Lavery, Middlemas, Gardiner Bit late maybe but worth a read and relevant to other threads on this site with regards to Ellis Taylor who was MoM for me amongst some fine performances from the rest of his team mates.
Yes @Scout73 rated him highly I think. Seen a bit on the socials a while back from the family and they dont seem too complimentary about things. All got a bit messy.
Yeah. Hope it doesn't turn out to be one of those where 'others know best' and the kid ends up suffering and rock up at Nuneaton on a 2 week trial in 3 years time.

result means nowt there but i would like to see more of these games when needed/international breaks etc, i am sure both clubs were more than happy to give lads minutes in the legs and get a look at some 'fringe' players.
Not sure yet mate, they will probably post something on X tomorrow. Will hoy a link up if they do. The bairn wants to go down so looks like I'm going to get soaked.
Just thinking about this, I think there is a Friday night game on Sky so that might scupper a youtube stream. Hopefully it will be on though.
