We won't play with wingbacks in the traditional sense.under Rosenior. If we were going to, Fleming and Longman would probably still be here.
I wasn't suggesting he would, just commenting that for both Christie and Vinagre are better suited to a wing back position rather than full back. I can see Furlong being drafted in at some point, he looks better defensively.
I reckon Greaves will go out left. Macca comes back in. Furlong is a developer. Not brought in as a first team option just yet. Vinagre, Greaves and Coyle probably start ahead of Furlong. He's a punt. Like Sandat, Vaughan, Covil, Celli Simons, Aydinlik, Lo Tutala etc.. There for the future and to develop, but not necessarily the immediate solution in the here and now.
He's 21, not a youngster, I know, one for the future, but I wouldn't be surprised if he makes the starting eleven at some point.
21 is a youngster. But he obviously has something. He's young and raw still though. He wasn't a major investment in comparison to others.
Not a youngster was probably not the right term, old enough to get a start if he is good enough, is probably better.
"I messaged him as soon as I realised he got the job and Pete Shuttleworth who I get on really well with," Rosenior told Hull Live ahead of the trip to the Midlands. "I'm delighted for them to be back in England. I spoke to Wayne two nights ago for 20 minutes just as friends. He's a top man. I wish him all the best and I know given time he'll be successful because I've had the pleasure of working with him. "He's a lot more intelligent than people give him credit for. He taught me a lot and I think we taught each other a lot in different areas and different things with our skill sets. I'm sure with the coaches he's got there and the staff, his personality and understanding of the game, he's going to be a success." "Me and Wayne will forever be very good friends," Rosenior continued. "Not just me and him, we had an unbelievable staff, Wayne, Justin (who is here), Justin (who is here), Pete who is now with Wayne, Luke Jenkinson who was the fitness coach and went with Wayne to DC, myself, it was a team effort and Wayne was the leader of that team. He led us unbelievably and I don't think he, or us, get the credit that we deserve for what we had to manage in that period. "Maybe I'm going overboard with it. We got 55 points with two centre halves who were 38 and 40 and a group of kids. We got 55 points in the Championship. To talk about Wayne's win percentage tells a millionth of a story of how he managed that football club at that time. "I have to say that his management and leadership, there's so many things I've taken from him and added to in my own way of leading and managing this football club."
Furlong. 21 y.o. 16 appearances in the Scottish PL last season. 4 Ireland U21 appearances. Not that young in football terms (compared to 17/18/19 y.o. kids getting a start) and not that raw either. No idea how good he is or isn't, but must have something about him to get 16 starts in SPL and 4 u21 caps
Barcelona had a 16 year old on from the start last night and a 17 year old came on and scored the winner with his first touch. Shouldn’t they be at the Spanish equivalent of Fleetwood learning their trade? We have fans who think 23 year olds are kids still learning. Mind you the HDM described a 23 year old as a boy racer last week so maybe it is a Hull thing?
