Drypool born and bred 'til I was twelve when the terraced houses got pulled down, then Preston Rd, then Greatfield, now Old Town.
Lewis is actually a Hull FC fan, but was a 'victim' of the joint academy the clubs had a few years back which meant they did a draft on the players. Hull FC had first pick and went for Connor Wynne, Rovers then went next and got Lewis. Wynne got released this year from his FC contract, Lewis just got named man of the match for England on his debut
We lived same area, same time RT - moved to brand new and shiny Bransholme when Drypool area slums were deemed to be no longer fit for human habitation. I grew up down Beeton Street, went to Courtney Steet School, mates down Kent St, Bright St, Arundel St - learnt to swim in East Hull Baths and borrowed books from the Library next door, our playground stretched from from home to 'Danny Lane' playground and the bombed houses and warehouses between there and Old Town. Was a great time and place to grow up but, what a ****hole really.
I lived James St and our playground was the timber yards off Strawberry and Pelham Streets. Weekends we'd go to the docks and lark about there. When they was pulling the houses down in the Summer holidays we'd help the blokes for change, running errands and such stuff. It was a ****hole but the people who lived there was the best, they always go on about 'Essle Roaders but East was the same. I went to St Mary's and then biked it to St Richard's on Marfleet Lane before the move to Preston Rd and Danny Lane was our sports field. We must have had the longest football and rugby pitch in 'Ull, one goal painted on Reckitt's wall and t'other on Kingston Engineerings wall and the pitch was ash and gravel that took ya skin off. Great days.
I've never had any football skill so always ended up in goal 'til the teacher decided I needed a run. . I've always been a skinny twat and when in the goal I looked like him out of Kes
You look nowt like Brian Glover, although you're sounding like Brian Inglis. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Narrow win, holding on a bit at the end, due to Ford constantly kicking possession away, but 3rd is probably better then most hoped for at the start.
3rd place, two wins over Argentina, deafening boos from thousands of angry Frenchmen... could've been a lot worse
Yes,it could've been far worse Without our huge sacrifices in WWII the bastards would've been booing in German....
Where does that phrase originate from? For all his faults, I'm not sure Adolf wanted the world speaking German.
