Always thought Bielsa would be impossible to follow but Farke is doing a fine job of it. The garbage in between also shows how far these two are ahead in the coaching stakes at Leeds over decades.. It seems all the attributes Marcello had, Farke seems to have and maybe more. Bielsa transformed anyone with reasonable ability to a different level and created the beautiful game. Farke has achieved similar or better. He’s cobbled together a great team from a disaster and also playing exhilarating football. He seems to have one additional attribute Martello lacked, the ability to adapt systems and games and yesterday proved it’s a big one. Unfortunately only a few short weeks left till the pl sackings get into full swing and he’s linked with every job going. Hope he’s around for the long haul
I can't think of another manager, being realistic in who we could get, that could have done a better job. I honestly believe if we'd have got him and the signings in 2-3 weeks earlier, we'd be 5 points better off. As Jammy posted elsewhere, his bravery and desire for the 3 points were rewarded yesterday. We've still got to stop teams running through us so easily at times, otherwise it's play offs not auto's
Bielsa did a fine job at Leeds, and the mutual love he had with the fans may always go unrivalled, but his stubbornness not to deviate cost him his job. Farke has shown more inventiveness in his first 3 months than the Argentine showed during his ER tenure and because of that, I have to give it to the German. Farke makes tactical changes depending on who Leeds go up against, whereas Bielsa refused to deviate from man to man marking, 4/2/3/1 and exactly the same XI to the point of burn out (by Klich's own admission). I hate to say this as I love Bielsa, but as the voice of truth and justice, it needed to be said.
Maybe he’s more suited to international football. Handful of games a year so don’t have to develop several tactical systems, minimum training sessions so less wear and tear on the players
Championships a different kettle of fish compared to the Premier league, but Bielsa didn't have a team anywhere near the quality of what Farke has at his disposal. Not sure Farke could have taken Bielsa's Leeds team up.
But i) Bielsa bottled it first season letting the Blunts overtake them ii) Farke has had to rebuild more or less from scratch iii) As we know, Leeds wouldn't sign ANY PLAYER WITHOUT BIELSA'S ABSOLUTE BLESSING. JKA is due to cost us best part of £45m. £9m in loans for Harrison. £15m for Costa. Bielsa spent a lot more getting us up.
FARKE rebuilding is with a much higher quality players that Bielsa never had. Bielsa refused to change a winning formula but backed up by that was telling the board he needed to replace a lot of players which they didn’t do. He also told the board that you cannot just bring in a loan player he needs to be a certain type of player. As for those who say Bielsa didn’t know how to defend well that was due to massive injuries and not very good defenders. The players he has for Uraguay are much better and his tactics kept Brazil to only having 2 shots at goal, thats Brazil the most attacking team in world football. FARKE is doing great but he already has better defenders than Bielsa had available to him in season 2 Prem. FarkeBall is good and long May it continue
Not sure we do know any of that,Bielsa was so loyal he never criticised the club for not giving him what was needed.Privately I think he had plenty to not be happy about.
Club very quick to blame Bielsa, the guys a Gent, never blamed the club. The club sold Philips,Rafinia and tried to sell Harrison.Thats the reason we went down.
