    Match Preview;
So, firstly, in case anyone is worried about my levels of comfort, I am writing this topless, in an office, whilst one of my team massages my back. Just thought I'd get that off my chest, might even post a picture of it on Twitter. That should be fine, right? :emoticon-0181-fubar

Onto the football, and this Saturday we head to Huddersfield Town, who sit 3 places and 3 points above us, so 19th with 11 points. They haven't won (when you score more goals than the opposition, in case anyone needs reminding), since September Saturday 16th September. Since then they have drawn 4 and lost 1. Their top scorer is Michal Helik, with 3 goals.

As for us, we've lost four and drawn two since our last win, on September 2nd. Lots of debate on here over Ainsworth, and I'm more generous to him than others, but another defeat, and I will begin to lose faith. We are heading up north, which often doesn't end well for us, but against a team only two places above us we should be looking to go and have a go, and try to at least get a point. We've heard a lot about the desire for good football from Ainsworth, but in reality it has been awful, and a lot of lumping the ball forward for Armstrong to chase. We need to at least see a marked improvement in the football, or it will be, for me, time for a change.

    Ainsworth;
“We’ve been working really hard over the break and I’m expecting a reaction against Huddersfield,” Ainsworth told www.qpr.co.uk.

“We need to drastically improve after Blackburn. We had a couple of key players missing but there was a real lack of intensity across the field which can’t happen again.”

Defeat a fortnight ago leaves the R’s third-bottom, having amassed eight points from the opening 11 games.

Ainsworth is desperate to climb the table, with five fixtures on the calendar between now and the next international break in mid-November.

“It’s the time of season where the league starts taking shape and we’ve got to make sure we’re really strong in the games coming up,” he said.

“The relegation zone doesn’t look nice and we want to get out as soon as we can.

“We all knew it was going to be a tough season and we’ll battle through it. I’m in no doubt we’ll be fine with what we’ve got in this squad, but right now we need to get away from that bottom three.”

“The international break doesn’t help with so many players away, all going across the globe,” Ainsworth said. “But it’s not just losing the players, it’s the travelling they have to do and the pressure they’re under. It’s a tough ask so this is where the depth of our squad comes into it and ours is a tight one.

“I was really pleased for Smythy. He scored a fantastic goal and another which got disallowed.

“Lyndon obviously played a big part in Scotland qualifying for the Euros so we’re pleased for him.

“I’m proud of all the international lads but we need them to perform for QPR now.”

    ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!

Oh dear. Bookies odds are more favourable. They're only giving 3:1 for a win for us but pretty confident of a Huddersfield win.

    Cheers Dave.

Dave Mangnall, the first on your played for both list, was also our manager from 1944-52, and was the first QPR manager to achieve a promotion*, winning the 3rd Division South in 47/8. More of us should know his name.

Now we have a bloke called ‘Wild Thing’.

*one of a select group - only him and Alec Stock (twice), Gordon Jago, Terry Venables, Ian Holloway, Neil Warnock and Harold Dedcrapp have got us promoted in the football league proper.

Gareth's post match press interview after this game.
"The boys gave everything, we played some great stuff, we just didn't take our chances up top but our fans were brilliant. Their 2nd and fourth goals were offside but we will get better, just wait and see".

I just listened to the GA pre-match interview and feel truly inspired and full of hope:

    Ainsworth:
We can achieve more than people think we can achieve and that would be one hell of an achievement

Good if he starts backing up his talk with some results. Not holding my breathe to be honest.

Int - 'So you've had plenty of time out on the training ground the last few weeks...'

GA - Yes, had a really good time with the boys. Talked it out. Changed things up and did training on a lot of stuff.

INt - ''So what sort of stuff have you been doing out there?'

GA - I'm not going to openly discuss exactly what we've been doing but it's all good stuff.

    .........

Jesus. What does he think he's hiding?

Einsteins Relative Theory of Footballing Success in 1001 Equations? A new, never-before-seen system that will befuddle and conquer anyone that takes the pitch in opposition?

Why can't he just state the bleeding obvious. Its frigging simple, or at least it should be -

'We've been practising our corners and crosses because we're sh1t at them and can't stop hitting the first dwarf ten feet away or that tall bloke back in row z."

"We've been practising our shooting at goal because we're sh1t at it and can't stop hitting it lamely at the keeper, the corner flag or that tall bird back in row x."

"We've been practising our set-piece defensive marking because we're sh1t at it and can't stop leaving the back post unattended, the front post unattended or any opponens from running free through the box unattended like a 70's stripper at Wembley."

"We've been practising our specialist long throw ins......in fact, all of our throw ins because we're sh1t at them and they generally go straight to the nearest opponent.....that's if we don't give away a sunday-league pi**head style foul throw that everyone should have learned to take properly when they were 10."

And that's without the extra-extra training for simple 5 yard passing and movement off the ball.

Technically, you can 'achieve' relegation, you can 'achieve' massively under-performing or you can 'achieve' playing boring to watch football. All about perspective I guess.

Just heard from an Huddersfield supporting friend, pitch inspection tomorrow at 9 am, serious downpour. He reckons the game will be call off. So a good weekend is possible

We've been just outside York since Thursday afternoon and it hasn't stopped raining yet. Torrential all day yesterday and supposed to continue today, although lighter. Tomorrow looks better up here.

It's sad to wake up on a Saturday and think 'Oh no, we're playing today'.
