Couldn’t agree more mate, I just hope I’m not wishing the same on the 300 that replace them in 5 years time.
The difference is hope, there's a hope that things will be better with a change of government. Keeping the Tory party in power will guarantee 4 more years of self-serving total incompetence.
"Keeping the Tory party in power will guarantee 4 more years of self-serving total incompetence." If they won the election Sunak would be PM. He's like a Spitting Image puppet without the charm or charisma ... ... and scared of his own party.
Turnout in Tamworth under 24%, and, in mid Beds 44% that is very poor and serves as a reminder how poor our political parties are rated.
Aye the numbers are low, ties in with many people stating they aren't going to bother voting (a subject on I have made my thoughts clear a few times ). The conservatives are saying they lost as their loyal supporters stayed at home, not because the other parties have increased their supporters. A loss is a loss, no matter how you spin it. Still a lot of hard work to be done to get these chancers out but the opposition know this.
Just find it sad more people didn't vote. Almost 76%. In Tamworth. Nice to see Raving looney party got around 400 votes collectively. I remember my Mam, who was a trade union member when the union asked the 3000 work force to turn up and vote for a 5% pay rise, only 78 turn out. Mam said they would rather watch crossroads than vote on a pay rise, and the union would be dammed if they did and dammed if they didn't. Apathy abounds
Staying at home is a vote imo. Typically the Tories are making excuses about the weather, etc, instead of saying 'Yes, we've let people down and the two MPs who quit were a disgrace.' Blaming 'Typical by-election figures' just makes them look even more detached from reality.
Somebody on the radio this morning said if this swing was repeated at a GE the tories end up with just 30 seats! Unlikely I know, but...
Their main problem is that they've played the wrong cards and on a continuous basis. Some things, even by the law of averages, are their fault. But, at every turn, they'll blame Covid, Europe, Putin and now Hamas ... even, last week, blaming the mess Labour left over a decade ago. Yes, I'm absolutely certain those things have had a serious effect, nevertheless all but their most fanatical supporters are sick of hearing it. A government can't simply ignore their own mistakes and keep claiming everything they do is historic or world class. It's bizarre how the Tory part advisers don't realise people are absolutely sick of hearing all the excuses, even if they're valid.
I don't have a problem with that TBH. I mean I have a problem with zero hours contracts, but if they're legal why shouldn't someone who is unemployed take one? If they don't get any work they still get full universal credit payment, if they get some work their universal credit payment is adjusted. And all the while they can be looking for more secure work. Just don't see the problem.
