You've got 2.2 million people in crisis in Gaza, so 20 trucks isn't even going to scratch the surface of what's needed. To put it into perspective, almost 100 trucks of aid usually go into Gaza each day, so you can see that this is just a drop in the ocean. Who gets that aid, and who decides who gets it ? There are apparently another 150 trucks waiting, and they will be sent in after Biden said 'it depends how it goes' regarding the first 20. You're right, it could be utter mayhem in a scramble to get that aid. Will that be used as an excuse not to send in more ?
On Israel btw, as I said they're doing some great work on producing freshwater. This includes pumping desalinated water into the sea of Galilea which they started a couple of years ago because it's drying up. It's really important for agriculture (not just about drinking the stuff) across that whole region including for the Palestinians if they ever have a state of their own. I know I'm going off track here a bit but they also have a deal with Jordan who need water as well, and in exchange Jordan provides Israel with solar energy. This is the potential the region has if there was a peace settlement. These fckers have the ability to work together and build something incredible. They're capable of so much if they stopped fighting, built a two state solution and started to work together.
I don't think they will use mayhem as an excuse not to send anymore in, that's just something every place that is desperate in the world has to deal with. I think they just don't want Hamas getting it, but from a logistical perpsective it might make sense for Hamas to have some control over it, whether the powers that be like it or not. You've got to have some form of authoratative control in any region, especially with one of 2.2 million people.
Israel said there would be no humanitarian aid until hostages were released. The U.S. has clearly applied some pressure for them to allow the 20 trucks, but I imagine their position may well go back to release of hostages first after this. It will also depend on placating pressure if there's a ****storm of casualties once the ground offensive starts. Who knows? Btw on the hostages, Hamas PLEASE let them go. At least the women and children. Listening to the families is beyond heartbreaking. LET THEM GO!
Agriculturally, the land there is very fertile and could support great export business for Palestine in Dates, Olives, Almonds, Figs, Citrus fruits etc
Exactly, especially with no UN on the ground. I know everybody is hating on Hamas right now, but they have been the de facto govt in Gaza since 2007 and the administrative body that manages the place.
Eventually, you would hope tourism too. The whole of Gaza is on the Mediterranean coast and of course is part of the 'Holy land' I know that's a way off right now, but Gazans offering Hotels, Guesthouses, Restaurants, Boat tours and excursions to Holy sites. What a wonderful future that could be.
OK let's not go holding each others c0cks and singing "I'd like to teach the world to sing" just yet.
****s murdering kids on both sides for decades and decades and Piskie talking about making Gaza a tourist hot spot for Derek and Julie from Bradford.
I know it reads more like a Dead Kennedy's album at the moment But you've got to dream of a bright future right ?
It was the last line that got me. "what a wonderful future that could be" Genuinely laughing my head off at that ya mad ****
There was this Israeli woman being interviewed and she completely lost it, total hatred rant after what's happened to her family and friends, the journalist couldn't even get a word in. It's never going to happen this generation nor the next mate, she'd probably stick you on a bbq just for mentioning it.
