It is, but Dan Neil’s first yellow is nowhere near as bad as Crooks on O’Nien earlier in the game. Ref seemed to literally ignore everything he booked our players for when Boro did it. He never even gave a free kick when Crooks did it!

Pribabky said it before too! But hey Jo. Shows a complete lack of consistency. And the “player running 30 yards to remonstrate about a foul” fir them too. Very well highlighted

I haven't watched any "highlights" but said at the time if the ref booked Crooks for one of the three or four he got on Jack Clarke then Neil wouldn't have shown his frustration! (I know he shouldn't have done it and it's his own fault for boiling over but shouldn't have got to that)

I hope the club have complained to the EFL about that clown pretending to be a ref, his inconsistencies were shocking. Hard watch but excellent once again

The worst 45 minutes of referring I have ever seen anywhere, he should not be allowed anywhere near another high profile game in this country as long as he lives imo

Aye, there's a stark contrast between football and other sports. In the cricket the players have the right to challenge the umpire's decision with no malice or ego. The umpires are often relieved if the correct outcome is applied. You hear the audio, you see the process on TV. It's all above board and normal...........apart from when Indian TV photshops the ball tracking but we'll not get into that :emoticon-0140-rofl:

So, the PGMOL have apologised for him and his performance against Boro and he's now going to be VAR for the Chelsea - Arsenal game. I certainly predicted the second part, let's see when he's next pick yo referee again?

What's the point in an apology if you're not going to rescind the card and the bloke gets promoted back to the PL?

I hope we told them we don't want him refereeing any of our games again when he inevitably ends up back down here.

I look forward to watching him. Though it's a televised match, it's not exactly a high profile, high pressure game. But if he makes any cock ups in that his cerd will be well and truly marked.

I think he could go to the opposite direction. In the Boro game he told the managers that he would try to let the game flow (well kinda). In the Ipswich game I can see him blowing for any foul committed

Which would be just as bad. He'd end being looked at as petty, weak willed and inconsistent. Going from one extreme to the other never works. And if it happens quickly in back to back matches...

I guess the thought is to get him back refereeing so it makes it look like he's not being kept out of the way.

Everyone should remember the apology is not from the prick who dished the card out

That actually begs a question. They apologised as they knew it was wrong, why didnt they wipe off the second yellow? we shouldn't have to appeal, they know it was wrong

It’s that stupid rule where a yellow card can’t be appealed.

Very stupid as it led to a red which can be appealed

starting to wonder just how many apologies get rattled out, we hear about thos ein the premier and our own but i dare say there are many across the leagues that are not deemed news worthy.

surely it would be worth reviewing the 'laws of the game' and making the officials job easier rather than making those laws harder to uphold?

think we are happy with refs stamping down on players surrounding them, screaming and asking for a card to be given but there has to be some point where (as with dan neil) where one player, 20 yards away basically making an observation just needs a warning.

The ref could have done that without the laws of the game being changed, he is just a dickhead, he did the same thing to a Wolverhampton Wanderers player, yet still he gets picked to ref games

yep, common sense is the refs best 'weapon' in many cases..but that is scuppered by the refs being told to be more strict with certain actions, i am no way attempting to excuse (yet another) bad ref but i feel if the FA and refs association got together, scrapped the current rule book and simply went back to a 'simpler' set then the entire game would benefit, i am enjoying the current trend of letting the game flow when soft tackles are made so that shows they can get some things right.
