it was a hair pull by a Spurs defender (Romero iitc) but everyone assumes it was a Chelsea corner and he was actually defending but in fact it was a Spurs corner and Romero was just trying to get a Spurs player in space therefore it coudn't be a penalty and unless you consider a little tug on someones hair a) serious foul play or b)violent conduct Dean as VAR official cannot intervene as it outside the laid down guidelines
What? VAR checks every goal and if there is a foul in the build up then the goal can be disallowed. A 'proper' VAR review of this situation would have seen the referee be advised to go to the screen to see if he thought the hair pull constituted "holding an opponent or impeding an opponent with contact" both of which result in a free kick. The offence occurring before the goal would rule out the goal. Not sure why a penalty is being mentioned.

It's a bit of a grey area. If you pull a players shirt it's a automatic yellow. If you strike an opponent, it's red. Pulling hair? I suppose it's closer to striking an opponent than a short pull; you're intentionally trying to "hurt" or aggregate your opponent. Personally, I'd lump hair pulling with biting; cowardly act that deserves to be ridiculed
it isn't just depends how it happens and i disagree with lots of them and my first thought would be to book the pussy writhing on the ground due to a stroke of his cheek .
I agree with the last bit, but nevertheless it's violent conduct and there's no doubt in my mind that it should have been looked at. So, no reprieve for Dean from me. Not as bad as this though.
