We all knew that it would be an incredibly hard to get a result here and I think previous Newcastle sides would have already been defeated before the ball was kicked and would have gotten spanked by 5/6/7 goals.

But this team really has a sense of purpose about them when going forward and defending, there was some very good displays out there today, most notably Benny! He seems back to his best again, hopefully he can continue that form against Utd.

On the basis of that performance I think we are more than capable of getting something out of the next two games. Our MOTM I think were Colo and Ben Arfa.

    Cabaye who?

What Perch did in 5 minutes, Cabaye couldn't do for the whole game <doh>

The only reason i'm really happy is that we were missing Best, Obertan and Tiote, all of who would improve that side! We were away to a team that are basically champions elect and we only lost 3-1 compared to Man U's result and Spurs' 5-1 drubbing!

Should Guthrie be dropped for Tiote?

Ben Arfa, pleasantly surprised by him today, deserves to start next week.

I'm quite optimist that we can get something against ManU and Chelsea after this match ...

See Waddle's put quite a bit of weight on, he'll be waddling before long if he isn't careful.

The same Ben Arfa that passed when he should've shot and then gave away a pen?! To be fair he was better today and I'm looking forward to him starting a few more games.

    I guess that's true.

Sammy's performance was awesome! How many times have we said Obertan never takes on his man, Sammy was tearing Clichy up! Really could be a big star for us. Special shout out to Benny (awesome!) and Colo (typical performance). Unlucky Raylor as well.

Not a bad performance from the majority of the team today, fairly pleased.

I am annoyed that we ****ed ourselves over like we did though, Raylor was a complete idiot. HBA was a fool to run right up the arse of the player that went down(richards?).

Wouldn't be annoyed if we lost because of good Man City play.

I'm accepting if a little hurt by that scoreline. They were the better team, we battled hard and whilst we were done by 2 penalties and a defensive mistake, their build up play was lovely.

I'm proud of the lads and we can't be too disheartened. If we have 2 more battling performances like that I'll be happy...

Was a good performance by us. Defended well apart from 3 moments of madness. Steven Taylor was brilliant aswell.

We were unlucky not to score more than the one, another week Ba, Ben Arfa, Guthrie (Or Taylor) would have also scored.

Considering their quality, its nice to see we can put in a good performance against the big team. Ben Arfa looked great and he can only improve with more game time. Bring on Man United I say!

Two mistakes each from Ba and Raylor cost us today, they had more of the ball but we had the better chances by miles. A bonus from the day being that Gosling goal ensures we still have the joint best defence in the land <ok>
