I was going to say something about strikes but realised very quickly that might not be appropriate here Sorry, sometimes I resort to humour to deal with ****.
My IPTV is buffering like fck. I think the bloke that supplies it is doing me a favour, I've just switched it off.
Currently in Segev Shalom, a suburb of Beer Sheva. Ironically named place I suppose. Translates to 'Jewel of Peace'. Back in a total daze again. Every fibre of my being wants there to be a way out of this. A way where the innocent on both sides stop suffering. A way out of Gaza for the people there. A way back into Israel for.the hundreds of hostages. A way to peace. But I've lived and breathed this for too long. I struggle to keep hold of hope. It has abandoned this region. There are few things more painful than watching your entire life's work burning in front of you. I had a long phone call with an old Palestinian friend of mine from a village outside of Hebron. His grandfather was one of the few people who tried to stop the rioters in the Hebron Massacre of 1929. Peace is in his DNA. We commiserated, we wept, we reminisced. We wept some more. I'm broken.
It is one of the saddest, depressing, enduring events of my lifetime ... there are pockets of light... but so much darkness and death ... and a cycle of inhumane actions and reactions that at times beggar belief.
I've always wondered CK, are you Jewish yourself or have just worked there for a significant time? I say "just" it's obviously a massive part of your life and a passion.
Another hospital run by Palestinians perhaps ... but this one is owned and run by the Anglican Diocese... very unlikely that they would have agreed to arms being stored there or that they wouldn't have known and acted if Hamas or Islamic Jihad has attempted to do so ... Interesting thing for me is that Israel has been trying to pin the explosion on Islamic Jihad rather than Hamas ...
The world is ****ed mate. Blood thirsty greedy ****s in charge who play a game while the innocent suffer and die
Abbas publicly snubs Biden, so to save face the Americans get the Jordanians to cancel the whole meeting. The state of these so called leaders.
I was having a look on twitter and it's just the blame game by all sides and the problem is you can't even trust the various sources of video, or those claiming to report it. I think someone has been attaching Al Jeereza logos to videos to make it look as though they are blaming Hamas, but if you skip all that and go directly to the Al Jeereza site, they clearly blame Israel. Trust nothing, believe no one. No one is going to admit to doing this.
Israel has been flattening buildings with people in it all week A Hospital gets hit (for the 2nd time) and suddenly it's somebody else fault. I know the propaganda machine is at work here, but surely occam's razor principle applies here ?
I'm personally not, although I believe in a Higher Power. Not such a fan of organised religion though. My wife's family are Jewish and keep many of the customs which I've always enjoyed experiencing and learning about. I visited Israel for the first time when we started dating which was shortly after the second intifada and just before the disengagement from Gaza. We spent three months in Jerusalem volunteering with a charity called One Family, which works with young victims of terror attacks. So that was one hell of an experience and a hell of a lot to take in especially at a young age. And Jerusalem is overwhelmingly beautiful and fascinating and at the same time one of the craziest places I'd ever seen. I was always interested in international politics and have always loved meeting different people from totally different walks of like. So I suppose one thing led to another and when it came down to it, I had a career choice between India and Israel and chose the latter. Lived there with some periods in the UK between 2005 - 2014. Was about to pack it all in at one point but then had the honour of meeting Shimon Peres in person at a gala function. He told me to stay put and keep up the good fight. So I stayed for a few more years. I think the turning point was when the three young boys from the Gush bloc were kidnapped by Hamas and murdered. We were raising a young family and that as well as financial pressures meant we relocated to the UK permanently. I still do a lot of consultancy for the organisations I used to work for and with, and try to visit the region at least once a year. And in times of extreme crisis, I drop everything and do what I can to help, even if that means calling an old friend from Hebron to see how he is. I miss Peres. That's what we need. Strong leaders willing to take risks, to dare, even to dream. They're nowhere to be found. No real leaders anywhere. So there you have it. The life and times of CK. Gone to total ****.
Biden is about as inspirational as a sodden flannel. But make no mistake, Abbas didn't 'snub' him. That's a smokescreen. If he leaves the territories now and goes abroad, there is every possibility of a grassroots coup. His popularity is at its lowest ever ebb, which is remarkable as I never knew a graph went lower than a flat line.
It is difficult to like what you are posting, it is far to horrific but it is a way to say we agree with you and hope there can be peace somewhere in all of this
It's either been a missile from the IDF or Hamas have had a volley of rockets exploded and thats done the damage. I feel fairly confident it's Israel like.
