Not at all. 99% of the so called rugby supporters two hours ago will have forgotten this in the morning. At least I admit beforehand I’ve no interest
Back on football it seems Illia Gruev has just given a powerful performance for Bulgaria. He actually started at LB too which was unusual for the midfielder but he played brilliantly according to media reports. So yet another option for Farke
Perhaps should post this on the jokes thread but here goes. Brendan Aaronson, remember him, it appears he's not having a good time at Union Berlin and is really not enjoying his time there. Well he's given an interview stating he would CONSIDER, returning to Leeds if we get promoted this season, well how ****ing generous of you Brendan, that you would consider gracing the ER pitch again wearing the Leeds colours, we should be so gracious that someone of your abilities would even Consider returning to us. Deluded ****, who the **** do you think you are?
Yet another reason we’d be better off staying where we are. He won’t be only one looking to come back for the handy cash
He is just another modern very average footballer who would be a nobody except he plays for the USA. A man and i use that term loosely so far up his own anus it's unbelievable. He is just one of a bunch of overated junk we signed. While i am at it Phillips is overrated too and we did well selling him for that much to man city. The only way steady eddie at the toon will sign him is on a cut price deal. Maybe Villa will have a bid for him maybe it's his level.
I whole heartedly agree that football is more enjoyable here atm but if we don't have the ambition to go back up, then the better players leave, we're on a merry-go-round of trying to get able replacements, until in thee end you become a Stoke and the enjoyments gone. Other than the 2 years here with Bielsa, I really can't remember much enjoyment in the previous 14 years, infact mostly despair
Perhaps I’m biased. I can’t stand the pl. all the play acting and rolling about. The fact it’s really three leagues. Bottom one mainly reserved for the yo-yo clubs an Everton. Maybe it’s the fact players have zero loyalty to their clubs or fans. Maybe it’s the ridiculous cost of the merchandise and match day ripoff prices. Don’t think I’ve watched a half hour pl since we left. I know it’s only me but I really am enjoying our current setup for first time since Bielsa was discarded. Young players getting a proper chance to shine. Struyk and rooter perfect examples. Not pl standard but a great watch now. Don’t forget if promoted it’s likely this entire squad would need selling as well as last seasons rats
I can see where you're coming from but if we don't go up, the better ones are going anyway. There's no reason if the 49ers show to be more astute with the signings that we couldn't make a fist of it, Brighton fans certainly enjoying the ride atm. Always said we did spend money but not wisely, this seasons signings, on the evidence so far would hold their own in the PL, we would then need to add 4 or 5 higher quality players to the squad, it can be done.
And that’s exactly what we were saying four years ago and see how that worked out. Talking about four or five signings being enough. Not a chance. At least ten quality signings need adding to get us out of pl bottom group of yoyo clubs
Think Rodon, if we can sign him on a permanent, Ampadu, Gray and Piroe will form a decent spine. Rutter will hopefully benefit from the more physical nature of the championship and make the step up. Gnonto if he stays we know can be premier league quality. The rest I’d say have question marks against them.
Yes, it’s about recruiting well and then being lucky with injuries. Brentford stayed up easily and had no second season syndrome. Now they’ve lost Ivan Tony, Rico Henry and a few others they’re beginning to wobble. They’re lucky that the three who went up are so poor and Bournemouth are ****.
I think you can add Somerville to that list, Anthony if we sign him, Meslier signs of a return of confidence and form? 5 more and the best of the rest, we have a squad to hold its own. If we're going to attract the right sort of investment to get us to the next level, then being in the PL will give us a massive advantage
It can be done though, through better management, without the hope, what's the point. I think we can go round in circles here mate but I don't want to go back to those 14 yrs before the arrival of Bielsa, and thats where we'd be heading if we don't get promoted. I think the Bielsa years clouds how bad it was previously.
The 49ers should be on the phone to Sheikh a stick or whatever his name is, now he's pulled out of the man utd deal, money to burn and throw at a football club apparently.
I’m not as convinced as some about Somerville but agree with you about Anthony. Was also quite impressed by Kamara actually but still very early days for him.
Don’t forget though we won’t be allowed spend anything under ffp. It’s part of the deal to stop any promoted teams ever making it into the top six
I suspect Eire, you’re not the only one with those views regards the premier league. Like you, I’ve not watched it since we left, and don’t miss it. However, I want promotion, because however it stacks up it’s better in the long term if we are relatively successful. Yes we might never win a PL, might be able to grab a Cup along the way, might one day qualify for Europe. But as much as I’m enjoying this season, I believe you’ve got to strive to be the best we can be. In my mind that’s got to be better than 21st in the English Football Pyramid.
Suspect Rodon may be like Ben Whyte. If good enough for pl spurs will keep him unfortunately. Suppose it’s the possible downside to loans
