Surprised he didn’t play Phillips Southgate usually goes for players getting plenty of match time with their clubs
It's about making money of course, but agreed, play these games behind closed doors if that's the sort of contempt you approach them with. Moral victory to Australia, who had Jackson Irvine at the heart of their team. Embarrassing.
Watching England under Southgate is hard work we have so much attacking talent that is wasted under him. This is a really poor performance from Southgate’s team.
We're at the point where Southgate is actively holding the England squad back so badly. So much creative talent, including possibly the next major star in Jude, and he keeps stifling them by playing as inanely safe as possible instead of letting them take risks and flourish. Continuing to call up players well past it such as that Saudi **** Henderson over quality like Ward-Prowse only solidifies gow out of touch he is. He needs to sod off before he costs us even more. I will respect him and will always enjoy what he did for us in 2018 and 2020, but he's past his sell-by date.
Huge waste of time and people's hard earned.. We've got some truly world class players yet the clueless twat continues to experiment unnecessarily.Credit must go to Australia for being pretty well organised and for their disciplined marking but FFS,Southgate has got a knack of boring people!!
One person who came well out of that was the lady who was the referee. Sounds patronising but I mean it as a compliment when I say that you didn’t give it a thought about who was the ref.
Southgate on Henderson being booed: "I really don't understand it. He's a player who I think 79 caps for England. His commitment and what he's delivered for England is exceptional. His role within the group on and off the pitch is phenomenally important." Gareth, If you don't understand why, you're either a blithering idiot or are perfectly fine with your players being snakes and having zero morals. I genuinely would not be surprised if he followed Henderson to Saudi after the Euros.
Really? How so? I didn’t know him, but others who did, that I trust, seemed to get on well with him while he was here.
I spoke to him once for my podcast and another time in person before a game against Sheff Utd and he was lovely on both occasions, as well as to my wife on the latter. I know some are bitter about the manner in which he left the club but I'm personally not too interested in sour grapes over that.
We are literally the opposite team under Southgate, good in tournaments and **** in friendlies and qualifiers. He’s the 2nd most successful manager we’ve had. As long as we turn up and perform like we have at the last 3 tournaments I don’t really care about dead rubber being a bit drab. At the end of the day he’s built an England set up that is happy, healthy, everyone wants to be part of and is actually a solid team. More than anyone ever has managed to do in my memory.
