    This is the reality situation.

The issue I had with Pinkies link is that was trying to speak in technicalities.

I am a believer in that technicalities can go **** themself in a situation like this, is Gaza TECHNICALLY occupied by Israel. Does Israel TECHNICALLY have a right to defend itself.

Who the **** cares, I can see the results before my very eyes and they don't give two ****ing ****s about your technically, some Arab reporter saying it is technically an untrue statement is just muddying the water with nonsense in my opinion. Jumping on it as a true statement turns the entire conversation into what it did turn into. Well, "technically Hamas aren't even legit" well, "Technically PA and Hamas are at war."

Kids are being killed, lets focus on that.

When people start talking like this, the news ends up having 40 minute long debates about stuff which are basically of no help to anyone. The best thing for Gaza is to continue showing the images from the inside and the desctruction being caused. That will change opinions.

Well you presume wrong, so maybe it's you who skim reads ?

You've just agreed with what Treble was saying about Gaza being under occupation. The fact that they've got trained fighters doesn't negate that either.

Borders, Air Space, Good and services, no right to self determination. Gaza is occupied. Even the International court of justice defines it as such.

Anyway, all of this just seems like splitting hairs over definitions. Given what's going on on the ground right now, which is a full scale blood bath is being metted out to Gazans

    I agree with this

The technicalities help nobody on the ground

But they are important going forward, if and when any peace negotiations can begin to take place

To this point though, everything you've listed misses out one thing.

There is no physical occupation of Gaza.

It is under siege by a far stronger nation, but the occupation will begin probably by the end of this week when soldiers enter

For all intent and purpose it is occupied. Which is why the International courts recognise it as such, as do the UN and even the US

It may not have been physically occupied by Israeli forces since 2005, but the blockade on all of its infrastructure, land and sea borders, renders it as such.

LIke you say, probably in a week or so, it will be militarily occupied once again by Israeli forces.

I'll tell yer the problem Welshie, and you failed to even mention it, tractors!

It's the only thing they have to worry about in Cornwall, oh and the odd hippy zigzagging down the road on a pushbike spaced out of his mind.

I wasn't aware of Piskie's post or link.

I'm not interested in technicalities either and I agree with you it's about the reality which is what I was posting. It is also why I said it means little in the overall problem of trying to find a solution <ok>

The position now is that Israel will be killing many innocent civilians to get to and wipe out Hamas. Also a reality.

Where we are now, and have been for the past week, demonstrates an utter failure by everyone.

The Israeli's aren't physically occupying Gaza currently, no ... but the much quoted 'largest open prison in the world" is still a moot point ... as has been made very clear recently, Israel has the ability / capability to cut off the power, deny food and water to a population of starving and impoverished people and restict their freedom of movement in a most draconian fashion ... and all this whilst flattening their homes, hospitals, schools etc with the most destructive hi-tech munitions available ... like shooting fish in a barrel... with most of the fish female or young ...

It’s gone beyond the technicalities now. But as you will be well aware, it’s those that have led to the situation that we’re now witnessing.

I came on earlier during my lunch break to add a post so I haven't seen your post at all and have no idea about any of it tbh.

I've been consistent all along, we need to look to the future and stop looking at the past. Yes I'll sometime comment on what's happened in the past because of some misinformation being put out in the media but I don't want to dwell on it. The ONLY good thing that can come out of this, is a permanent long-term solution.

Not sure if anyone's already commented on this but the violence is spilling over in the West Bank, and there's a wave of mass scale aggressive saber-rattling going on in other Arab countries.

There is a real danger the longer this goes on, the more likely this becomes a wider conflict.

I might disagree with Rabbi Alex Goldberg's stance on the Wembley flag thing (he's resigned from there today), BUT I completely rate the bloke on everything else.

He's given an interview on Sky News and is a genuine humanitarian.

Goes to show that even with all the hatred, there are ppl on both sides who are good ppl.

And he didn't need to compromise his support for Israel to do it.

I saw on the live conflict map an increase in fighting in the West Bank.

Saber rattling from other Arab nations I'm less concerned about.

Possible Hezbollah might get involved tho

Yeh I was thinking of both Hezbollah and West Bank.

Not the arab nations but their public. It's less of a concern for Israel, but it is for places like Iraq and Egypt which are always prone to exploding within. Sisi is another tyrant, hated by most so maybe something good hopefully he gets taken out.
