To get back to the original post, I hope the operation in Vail is a success and Marveaux can get back to his best.

    Good luck to him.

I love how this thread completely derailed after post 3, I forgot it was even about Marveaux. Thoroughly agree with your sentiments too.

Aye, from a purely selfish point of view, Marveaux was a free and he'll be on relatively low wages (I'd imagine anyway). Even if we have to invest another 6 months of effort, rehab and patience, he looked like he could be a top player, if he doesn't make it back, its not a MASSIVE gamble.

Having said that, he also seems like a decent lad with a good attitude, never want to see player's careers ruined by injury, so keeping my fingers crossed for him, as well as the club!

This reminds me a bit of Santon's operation. Just something which has to be done to sort a recurring issue out once and for all.

He's (Marveaux) got a really good game in him and some fantastic touches, it all comes naturally to him.

it was due to us i'm afraid and i made the damn thread (blame lack of sleep)

anyhoo i hope it sorts it out as we haven't seen the best of this lad yet and he's one player that excites me i think he could be a bigger hit than ben arfa if both stay fit imo

Oooft, some claim that Secret! I think they're 2 players who could link perfectly to be honest, a kind of Enrique/Gutierrez (but in the CAM/RM role instead) Ben Arfa has great feet and acceleration, but doesn't pass it anywhere near enough, Marveaux has decent feet but better vision. If they could start linking up with cheeky 1-2s we could rip teams apart!

thing with marv though his best position and the one he's played most is CAM i think he'd be wasted on the right would rather stick jonas there if we get a LB and stick marv on the left as i can't see him getting the CAM if ben arfa if fit

I'd be happy with him on either flank to be honest...With Ben Arfa having a fairly free role in 10, they could rotate a little. We'd just have to be conscious of that when covering the right and left flanks!

The club will have known about his injuries as he missed most of last season with it and it isn't the first time he has suffered from it. It seems he will have to be carefully managed and nursed through the season like Demba Ba. The original stories said he was back in the new year do hopefully he is back soon.

As a club we seemed to have lost the urge to rush players back letting them recover fully which is a good thing

I agree and I wouldn't want him rushed back but the squad is a bit thin on the ground at the moment and it would be good if he was back sooner rather than later.

Unfortunately for you guys this is the reason we didn't sign him. Very injury prone.
