He's quite right. I live in one of those idyllic leafy villages. The local nursery ( flowers not kids) shut down. An application went in for eight semi detached houses on the site. There were myriad objections and one in support ( me, naturally) The application fitted policy perfectly as it was classed as brownfield. The scheme went ahead and six have been completed and sold at around £400k. The objectors are perfectly happy they are totally unaffected. Typical NIMBY ism.
It's another one where I don't think he's altogether wrong. The term 'green belt' has been rephrased and misused over the years, which has meant land that isn't exactly green or serving any real purpose is just left empty at the expense of land that could be better used. The green belts were originally aimed not at being areas of environmental pasture or being aesthetically pleasing in themselves, but simply a way of stopping urban sprawl. I've read some reports that claim the green belt around London is 3 times the size of London itself.
There will be at least a million net migrants a year if Starmer gets in & he will bend over & take his fair share of EUROPEAN UNION sanctioned illegals plus anyone else that will vote Labour, relax freedom of movement from Shengen zone, chain migration etc etc. You can't be serious about carbon footprints if you import millions of extra people & cut down trees .
I'm not sure where the footprint bit came in, but I agree with the general points. I was agreeing with Keith's comments about building, but that didn't touch on the reasons why it may be needed.
The 300 k homes aren't for us , they are for the marginalised people with protected characteristics, I know someone that signed up for social housing & were told it's at least 10 years wait & each day they get put lower on the list as more people flood in. Starmer's solution to illegal boat crossings is to ship them over ourselves & process them all here , his solution to spending billions on hotels for them is to simply build them houses . No limits , no quota , just keep flooding into France we'll pick you up & build houses for you . It's all free , apart from the mega bucks contracts handed out to property developers. Forcibly remove property & land from British people under compulsory purchase agreements to house Africa & the third World.

The carbon Zero death cultists don't believe in having children because they are extra carbon footprint users . That includes concrete , bricks, energy more cars more consumption of everything even water food & breathing. So importing millions of extra carbon consumers by their logic will obviously put a greater strain on the planet.
