Good Morning. It's Wednesday 11th October, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Hopes dashed of Phillips returning to ER

Any hopes of Kalvin Phillips returning to Elland Road have been all but dashed after it was revealed that Newcastle Utd are hot on his heels.

Phillips joined the blue side of Manchester fifteen months ago, bringing an end to his twelve year Leeds Utd association. During a recent interview Pep Guardiola praised his work commitment, but also admitted that he had failed to get the best out of the former Yorkshire Pirlo.

Leeds fans have a fascination with former players returning to the club, so when social media lit up earlier this week, it wasn't that much of a surprise. Since leaving the Whites, Phillips have picked up enough Silverware to open his own jewellers, but at 27yo, he will want to be playing at the highest level for a long time yet.

News of the availability of any Leeds Utd player past or present, has obviously alerted Everton, who have also thrown their hat into the ring. Their obsession continuous....

    So who owns Elland Road

Fresh documentation published on Companies House have caused confusion amongst the Leeds masses.

The club have just issued their yearly accounts, ending June 2022, a year before 49ers Enterprises took overall control of the Leeds Utd. Within the financial statement, was a lease relating to a rental agreement of £1.7m for the use of Elland Road. According to the accounts, the lease (which is owned solely by Andrea Radrizzani) has another nine years to run.

Andrea Radrizzani snapped up the stadium in 2017 as part of the deal to buy the club; lock stock and barrel, from former owner Massimo Cellino for £45m. When the 49ers took control of Leeds Utd almost three months ago, did that include the Stadium, and if so, is the rental agreement still running?

Things not going well for Perkins

Sonny Perkins continues to struggle for game time, since agreeing a season long loan at high flying Oxford Utd.

With nine wins for eleven, Liam Manning's team find themselves second in the table, with a game in hand over their rivals, but the England U19 International has barely contributed. In fact, he's only managed two minutes of game time, since joining the U's almost seven weeks ago, and it's not thought to be injury related.

To make matters worse, he has not even made the match day squad in their last four games. Big things were expected from Perkins, when Leeds nicked him away from West Ham 18 months ago, but just like Greenwood and Gelhardt, have failed to live up to expectations.

Pointless speculating about who owns ER until you see it in black and white. Phil Hay loves dredging up any shyt he can get so that he gets some clicks. The accounts were for 2022 and before the sale, so why bother worrying about it. Even if Radz still own it so what? He had an agreement to sell to the 49ers at a certain price and when we were relegated a whole new deal needed sorting out. Remember Radz went out and spent £20m on buying ER after he had paid Cellino off as well as the final pay off to GFH. If he is charging us £1.7m for nine years as only £16m, so lets chill and see what happens.

On Perkins I think the club have had a problem with under-training last season because Sinisterra isn’t fit enough yet for Bournemouth, Greenwood has only just got a game for Boro as not fit enough and betting that’s the problem with Perkins too

    Morning all

Phillips was good in a Bielsa set up, he’s not bad in an England set up either. If Farke wanted him and he was affordable then I’m fine with that.

I don’t believe he’d want to drop a division, I don’t believe we could afford him, I don’t believe Farke would want him so it’s all a non starter for me.

Who owns ER I think the 49ers have been around long enough to have that situation under control, you’d hope so anyway

It's clear that Radz owns ER when you look at the company he set up to buy it.

    Is it a concern ?

No not at this stage, however the 49ers will have a decision to make in a few years about whether to buy Radz out and redevelop ER or build a whole new stadium somewhere else.

Guess the current situation gives them options and the necessary time to make that decision.

I guess it does make a difference if the 49rs are thinking of upgrading the stadium and increase capacity if they’re not the owners. Won’t they in effect raise the value of it on behalf of Radz by doing so if / when they decide to buy it from him?

    Exactly.

The 49ers will not invest in the stadium whilst Radz owns it.

Kinnear has confirmed that the 49ers now own 100% of ER and said those accounts are a year behind. Greenfield Investments has now sold it to the 49ers. So yet another nothingburger from Hay

Kinnear seems to have said that it's a done deal that will complete in the future but without stating exactly when that will be.
